Proposed NFL Changes

Tgirsch of Lean Left, who is wrong on just about everything political, has some really good suggestions for improving the National Football League. I would probably go a little further on a few things though. For instance, I would completely do away with the “blow to the head” rule. It still shocks me that football players are penalized for this. Knocking somebody’s head off is just good football. You can’t make the game “safe”. Its violent and dangerous and it should be. Otherwise, just give the quarterback a dress and get it over with.

Also, I would completely do away with instant replay. I have always hated the idea of stopping the momentum of the game for ten minutes while an official checks, re-checks, and checks again to see if the call was right. At least do what Tgirsch suggested and limit the time to change the call to 60 seconds.

Finally, stop fining defensive backs for hitting people too hard. This is football we are talking about here. If Ronnie Lott (favorite player ever) were playing the game today, he’d be owing the league money.

    Change football?

    NOOOOOooooooo……

(well, maybe just change the part where they overpay the young athletes who then (some of them, and more than ever, unfortunately) go absolutely nuts and lug bags of cash into strip clubs thereby instigating shootings, or buy remote hideout villas where they and their friends gamble on dog fights then subsequently hang the losers, or any of a number of high-profile DUI’s, felony assaults, simple assaults, reckless drivings, marijuana possessions, fake-dong-to-avoid-drug-test-kit arrests…)

But that’s not going to happen.

I would settle for a rule keeping this clown off the sideline…
