Waterboarding Used Before And We’ll Use It Again If We Have To
February 6th, 2008 . by glendeanJim of Progressive Nashville is noting that the Bush administration acknowledged yesterday that it had used waterboarding to “torture” detainees. When you click on the article linked in Jim’s post, you get the whole story.
“We used it against these three detainees because of the circumstances at the time,” Hayden told the Senate Intelligence Committee. “There was the belief that additional catastrophic attacks against the homeland were inevitable. And we had limited knowledge about al Qaeda and its workings. Those two realities have changed.”
Hayden said Khalid Sheik Mohammed, Abu Zubayda and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri were waterboarded in 2002 and 2003. Hayden banned the technique in 2006, but National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell told senators during the same hearing yesterday that waterboarding remains in the CIA arsenal - so long as it has the specific consent of the president and legal approval of the attorney general.
So we used this interrogation method on three people, THREE PEOPLE. Also, look at who we used it on. Do you folks mean to tell me that you would rather us not have used this method on these three individuals? Would you all have rather suffered through the “additional catastrophic attacks against the homeland” that “were inevitable.”
What really pisses me off more than anything, is the self-righteous SOBs who sit around living comfortable and safe in front of their computers, all the while taking a high and moral stance against the very actions that keep their ungrateful asses safe. You all sit in judgment of people like me, because I am honest when I say that I could give a rat’s ass about how much water was poured on Khalid Sheik Mohammed’s head in an effort to save American lives. You self righteous candy asses make me sick.
Right, Glen
Case in point!
Glen, good to see you stand up for great American principles like preemptive war, torture, abuse of power, and a weakened American defense ….

They can’t handle the truth!!
That being said, I wish that Hayden fellow hadn’t said “attacks against the homeland.”
Those detainees are still alive. And none the worse for wear.
We’ve come a long way in our short 5 million years on the planet. Wasn’t it just a couple centuries ago that ‘drawn and quartered’ meant something that people enjoyed as entertainment? And ‘torture’ meant pulling fingernails, breaking kneecaps, burning skin, and other techniques only Hollywood remembers? (Well, I’ll bet there’s some great tortures going on in some quiet quarters of Islamisbad, with the stoning to death of girls and women for dishonoring their husbands and families…)
What you should worry about, Democrats, is not destroying this nation with your desire to create an impossible utopia, because if the U.S. falls, I’ll warrant the successors here won’t be as concerned with human rights as we all are.
We’re at a pinnacle, here. And Democrats are trying to rush us off the top!
Nice site keep it up!

The people who make me sick are you f—ing cowards who are so paralyzed by pants-wetting terror, you’re willing to sell out the country’s values for the illusion of security. Suppose it’s your son who the government thinks has valuable information, and they decide to torture him. You still okay with it? You still think “No harm, no foul?” I bet you’d be suing the government so fast your head would spin.
But hey, who cares, it’s not like we tortured a white guy. It was probably some filthy raghead anyway, right?
(I genuinely don’t understand why so many conservatives have such a hard-on for torture. It doesn’t even work. Life ain’t an episode of 24…)
Tgirsch, they waterboarded three people and tortured none. Thats three high level, really bad people. Why don’t you guys take this fight to the people? Convince them that it is better to allow Americans to be murdered than to pour water on the head of a terrorist mastermind. Yeah, that will sell real well. Thats a debate I’d love to have.
You know, I thought you were more intelligent than to have to resort to that kind of stuff. If all else fails, call them a racist, from page one of the liberal playbook.
Like Serr8D said, if we lose this thing, you guys will get to experience some real human rights violations, and mistreatment of women. But hey, Americans are the bad guys. It’s okay, sleep safely knowing that your guys are not in power. I do.

Savor while you can, Glen.

Yeah, the Dems will get in, and f*ck up the country, again.
Fill the USA up like one of JP’s litterboxes, with discarded Democratic blunders. See, Jimmah Carter. Reagan emptied that one…
Then, Bill Clinton, who didn’t even have the grace to use a litterbox. Or a bar of soap. Just a blue dress, that’s all he needed. Because his wife has a bigger c*ck than he does! Just ask Janet Reno…
;D
Yeah, the Dems will get in, and f*ck up the country, again.
Like a grocer who’s caught some kids shoplifting candy, they’ll have to grab the kids by the ears, march ‘em into the store, call their parents, and get the candy paid for, certainly.
Look and see which direction the dollar, the national debt and our standing in the world goes in the next four years.
.
Remember The Onion headline when Bush took office? “Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity Is Over.” Whodathunkit?

Waterboarding is torture, Glen. It simulates drowning, for God’s sake. That doesn’t fit your definition of torture. Tell you what: volunteer to be waterboarded, actually go through with it, and when you’re done, tell me whether or not it’s torture.
Convince them that it is better to allow Americans to be murdered than to pour water on the head of a terrorist mastermind. … You know, I thought you were more intelligent than to have to resort to that kind of stuff. If all else fails, call them a racist, from page one of the liberal playbook.
Setting aside the patently false dilemma, do you not see the disconnect here? You just assumed that the guy they waterboarded was a “terrorist mastermind.” You’re completely convinced of the guilt of the person they’re interrogating, just on their say-so.
What amazes me is how you won’t trust our government to do pretty much anything (like spend tax dollars), but you will trust them, sight unseen and carte blanche, to use “enhanced” interrogation of suspects — not even just suspects, but anyone who might have information. You’re cocksure that they’ll mess up everything they touch, except figuring out who the “terrorist masterminds” are, and being sure to only torture them.
But hey, Americans are the bad guys.
I’ve never said that. In fact, I’m convinced that Americans, by and large, are the good guys. I’m merely suggesting that we ought to act like the good guys. And part of that involves treating prisoners at least as well as we would have our prisoners treated. Do our enemies play by those rules? Of course not, but so what? Maybe you disagree, but I don’t think we should have to sink to the level of our enemies in the name of defeating them. You don’t get to claim the moral high ground without practicing what you preach.
And the bottom line, which you’ve completely ignored, is that torture (or, if you’re fragile ego can’t handle the fact that you endorse torture, this “enhanced interrogation tactic”) doesn’t even work. So what’s the point of waterboarding? It grossly harms our reputation around the world (which, if you ever want allies on anything, matters), and for nothing!
Serr8d:
Yeah, Clinton sure did f–k up the country, what with budget surpluses, record growth, and whatnot. I just hope our next president, whoever it is, f–ks up the country half that effectively…
