So Chelsea Is Not Off Limits

February 17th, 2008 . by glendean

Good news for Serr8d and fans of his excellent work. In spite of R. Neal’s outrage, and the outrage of the other bedwetters that commented on his post, not every liberal believes that Chelsea Clinton is off limits.

Check out this from GoldnI. After calling Chelsea rude, she writes,

I’m sure the usual Clinton supporters will argue that it should be off-limits to attack Chelsea.

But in this instance, as a grown-up woman, she chose to campaign for her mother. That makes her a political surrogate, and there’s no reason why she shouldn’t be held to the same standards as the rest of them. She made an arrogant and idiotic statement, and I don’t see why she shouldn’t be called out on it.

Good campaigners don’t fall apart at receiving what they perceive as a hostile question, they don’t attack the person who asked the question, they keep their cool, no matter what.

(And yes, I just indirectly called Chelsea Clinton unhinged. Have at it, Tennessee Guerilla Women!)

Thank goodness. For awhile I thought that this grown woman in her late twenties was just too delicate a flower to be discussed or heaven forbid, made fun of.

Or, I suppose, portrayed in fishnet.

As I pointed out at KOS East, Chelsea’s had more exposure to out-of-kilter sexual content by mere example of her father’s actions, not only in the White House but by exposure to those numerous prior affairs that were commonplace in that household. Those had to be formative times for her delicate psyche.

And for Chelsea to witness the bad example her mother Hillary set time and time again by forgiving Bill, only for to advance her own political futures. Gamesmanship for political positioning (if Hillary had divorced Bill the very first time, there would be no ‘Hillary for President’ option on the Democratic ballot).

It seems Chelsea hasn’t really devolved to the level of her mother, at least not relationship-wise. Maybe that sort of self-destructive-no-respective behavior will skip a generation.

I wish her the best, really.
