A True Story Of Race In The Deep South
Continuing on the subject of race, hats off to AC Kleinheider for linking to this New York Times story.
The county of Cullman, Alabama, which is 98% white, just elected a mayor with a dark skin pigment. This may surprise a lot of you cynical liberals, but it doesn’t surprise this native Alabamian.
Notice the things that people were saying in that article about how they never even thought about him being black.
Elite liberals love to use that “party of the little guy” BS, while playing the class envy card. But don’t be confused Mr. White Southern Working Man, Mr. Northern Union Man, or Mr. Poor and Uneducated, these people detest you. They think you are all a bunch of simple idiots, rednecks, racists, sexists, and homophobes. They want your vote, but they stay as far away from you as they possibly can.
As a result, they don’t know you. Because of their stereotype, they underestimate you, and always assume the worst about you.
Remember this county in November, this 98% white southern county that elected a black man to be it’s mayor. Remember it when it overwhelmingly votes against Barack Obama, the most liberal member in the United States Senate. When Obama loses this part of the country because he is a liberal, watch the same old cynical hate America leftists blame his defeat on race and racism. When that happens, remember this story. You can bet your ass that the media won’t remind you.
Speaking of stereotypes, what makes a liberal “elite”?
Undeservedly “elitist”, I get. “Elite” itself? Not so much.
effete.
Closer to home, and the best fit.
