Desperation Time
Desperate times have arrived at the Hillary Clinton campaign as they circulating a photo of Barack Obama wearing Somali clothes during a visit to that country in 2006. This of course is intended to play into the “Barack-Hussein-Obama-is-a-secret-Muslim” nonsense that’s been floating around the internet and talk radio for a while now. Hillary is attempting to appeal to xenophobia and ought to be ashamed of herself.
The fact that Obama wore the traditional local garb while visiting a foreign country should not surprise anyone with even the slightest understanding of international politics. As Bob Krumm points out, statesmen have worn the local garb during foreign visits for centuries.
Ultimately I think this will backfire for the Clinton campaign, only reinforcing the perception of her willingness to do anything to win. Hillary Clinton should also be careful about circulating such pictures, as there are similar ones of her available to anyone willing to look.
