Compare and Contrast

The most interesting posts about William F. Buckley today came from liberals. Of course, just like conservatives, liberals were not united in the way they felt about this very nice man.

Contrast John Hutchinson, a class act, with KTK of Lean Left who is, well something else.

From John-

despite the fact that I agree so little with what he has spawned, I can’t help but be saddened by this loss. Today’s GOP (especially the Tennessee popinjays) would do well to emulate his civility and rapier wit, but I’m thinking they won’t (and maybe that’s not so bad for my ’side’.

From KTK-

Allow me to take this opportunity to stand athwart history yelling “Go!”

Oh - sorry. Unsympathetic? Yeah, I give a shit.

I hope they tattoo a warning sign on his ass before they bury him in some place I can piss on without getting my feet wet.

Apparently the people that KTK disagrees with, deserve to die. Interesting. Not a whole lot to add to that.

I just want to point out that there are two Kevins at Lean Left. The one we call “Kevin,” and the one we call “KTK.” The latter is who wrote that post.

And I’m on the record in disapproving of the post.

Buckley had some views which were truly reprehensible, including the ones KTK alludes to in the post. But that’s not an excuse, in my estimation, to celebrate someone’s death. I’d much prefer if the man lived, and the idea died.

Whichever asshole it was, can go straight to hell.

I was late putting up my post, having worked all day, but hat’s off to William F. Buckley, Jr., for having lived an unapologetic life.

Mocking and scourging liberals. There’s nothing better!

I’ll make the change. Apologies to the other Kevin.

I’ll remember that sentiment the next time I hear a conservative spouting off about bipartisanship.

There’s one thing I will defend about what KTK wrote, however: Buckley’s suggestion (repeated, over decades) that AIDS victims should be tattooed for easy identification was reprehensible and deserving of derision. I don’t agree with KTK’s methods or his timing, but I agree with him that Buckley deserves to be remembered — and not fondly — for that.
