McCain starts VP search…Alaska Governor SARAH PALIN on the list?

John McCain said he’s searching for a VP who shares his views. Let’s hope he’s not seriously considering Mitt Romney (who is falling all over himself hinting that he wants the job…“…any Republican leader in this country would be honored to be asked to serve as the vice presidential nominee, myself included.” Leave Mitt, Guiliani, Huckholio, and even Thompson on the sidelines looking in; they had their chances. I want Change.

McCain should pick a candidate based on performance, fiscal Conservatism, and some Real Conservatism, to balance out his, you know, weaknesses.

I would like to see a woman, a black woman preferably, offered the position; it’s past time for that. But I don’t think my first choice, Condoleezza Rice, would take the job. Just a hunch.

Eric Dondero, of Mainstream Liberatrian, sends this email…

“Adam Brickley: We might (emphasis on “might”) have our first confirmation that the McCain campaign is vetting Gov. Palin as a potential running mate.”Yesterday, the domain names SarahPalin.org (info) and SarahPalin.net (info) were reserved by a company called “Domains By Proxy, Inc.” (SarahPalin.com was reserved by Palin’s web team during her gubernatorial run). Domains By Proxy is an internet privacy service based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. Basically, their business is protecting the privacy of registrants who don’t want the public to know that they own a domain name (owners of all domain names must be registered in a public database called “WHOIS”)

“HERE’S THE KICKER: “Domains By Proxy” is the service used by the McCain campaign to secure domain names for all of their websites, including the official campaign site JohnMcCain.com (info). In addition, the purchase came on the exact day that the McCain campaign told the press that the VP search process had been started.

“Now, we can’t prove anything conclusively. However, I think that the circumstantial evidence is very strong that the domain names were purchased by the McCain campaign. So, we don’t know waht the VP list looks like, but I think that the evidence definitely suggests that Gov. Palin is among the people being vetted. Unfortunately, we cannot find out the number or identities of the other potential veeps because most domain names associated with other supposed candidates (Crist, Pawlenty, Portman, Ridge, Sanford, etc.) were purchased by various organizations before yesterday, so they cannot be secured as easily as the Palin domains.”

So, who is Sarah Palin? (Click on the image for a bigger one.)

Sarah Heath Palin is Republican, is the first female Governor of Alaska, and the youngest (42) to hold that office. This bit of politics is interesting, and may be why McCain is taking a second look…

“Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Palin to serve as ethics commissioner on the state’s Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which she served on during 2003–2004, but later resigned, in protest over what she perceived to be the “lack of ethics” of fellow Alaskan Republican leaders. This included the state party’s chairman, Randy Ruedrich, a fellow commissioner…”

McCain likes to slap around those in his own party. Maverick, and all that…I guess he’s looking for a soul mate. Not that there’s anything wrong with strong ethics, but I like to see Republicans who slap Democrats, first. And maybe not sidle up to them so much, eh?

Sarah’s politics?

“Palin is strongly pro-life and belongs to Feminists for Life. She opposes same-sex marriage, but has gay friends and has otherwise been receptive to gay and lesbian concerns about discrimination. While the previous administration did not implement same-sex benefits, Palin followed an Alaska Supreme Court order and signed them into law.”She supports a democratic advisory vote from the public on whether there should be a constitutional amendment on the matter. Alaska was one of the first states to pass a constitutional ban on gay marriage, in 1998, along with Hawaii.

“Palin’s first veto was used on legislation that would have barred the state from granting benefits to gay state employees and their partners. In effect, her veto granted State benefits to same-sex couples. The veto occurred after Palin consulted with her attorney general on the constitutionality of the legislation.”

Which is fine. I believe that “marriage” as a traditional, Church-sanctioned process should be protected and reserved for only a man and a woman. Purely in the traditional sense. Gays can go ahead and get some sort of ‘civil’ secular mutual-service agreement where they can get some rights and benefits, but please, don’t mock the real thing. There’s enough of that already, by those who are allowed to marry.

As far as fiscal policy, Sarah seems perfect for the job. She sold the Governor’s jet on Ebay; squashed some pork spending left over from the previous governor’s sloppy reign, and really seems to want some tighter controls on spending. Exactly what the Republicans need: a fresh, new approach to fiscal Conservatism.

Say, Sarah sounds better than….

Nevermind.

I haven’t seen MS. Palin’s name on the CFR list, but that doesn’t mean anything.

If you want a Real conservative black woman, look at Ezola Foster.

Well, you will have to make some sort of choice in November. Sitting at home is not considered an option.

  3. Mickey, 16. March 2008, 19:27

Oh I most likely will vote the Constitution party for President. You see I vote FOR people, not Against someone else, or, the lesser of 2 evils (either one I really do not want).

I only hope Someone, ANYONE is running against MARSHA BLACKBURN.

I would vote for Satan himself, to cast out Hillary.

One and the same, really; one just comes with better supporters.

    Good evening,

I am frustrated that Gov. Crist has been in office for 2 years and is mentioned daily as a leading VP candidate, while Gov. Palin (Gov. for 2 years as well) is dismissed for not being experienced enough.  Is it sexism or ignorance?

Gov. Sarah Palin is respected by social and fiscal Conservatives, reformers and indy’s.  The battle ground is shifting to the mid-west and Gov. Palin has the profile and geography to appeal to those voters.  Palin has more executive experience than both Clinton and Obama, and Palin practices straight-talk, which will fit well with McCain. Her two years in the Governors office brings a long list of reforms to government and a 180 degree change in how politics is practiced in Alaska.

As well, in almost all of the head-to-head McCain-Obama polls, the number of undecided women doubles over a McCain-Clinton poll.

[…] With Obama not choosing a female running mate, McCain has been given a golden opportunity. It is pretty funny to watch all of the Republican politicians and hacks play to the Hillary crowd, by praising her and criticizing Obama for “doing her wrong”. When I heard Giuliani’s comments, I couldn’t help but laugh at such mischief. Choosing woman for the Republican ticket would be the equivalent of a home run. Choosing a female governor, or former governor would just about cover all bases. Can you say Sarah Palin? […]

McCain just cost himself the election by picking Sarah Palin. No experience or expertise in any of the important areas should make voters very leery. As far as her CFR membership, if she isn’t a member, she will have to join otherwise David Rockefeller will be upset.

i think sarah palins conservative views on abortion and gay marriage is exactly what mccain needed to do. the fact that he chose a female conservative vs. a male conservative says something to. not only can he hope to get the far right vote due to palin, he also can hope to get some hillary voters on his side.

I wonder why there hasn’t been a huge, celebratory (perhaps lovingly Photoshopped, even) post on Palin’s nomination, today?

Because, JP, I work from dawn to dusk. And beyond, sometimes. Paying taxes for to support Democrats.

There’s gonna be plenty of celebratory output from me.

Finally, a reason to pull the lever for McCain in November, beyond just the anti-Obonga vote.

And, Sarah Palin is the only person running in this race with executive experience. Sarah Palin is conservative, and not afraid to get in the Republican party’s face. Good for her! Just what John McCain needed…a check and balance.

What of Hillary? Don’t you know this burns her riding crop? Sarah Palin has a much better chance to become VP, then President, than Hillary has. This has gotta hurt!

Obonga is so screwed. McCain trumps the Messiah!

  13. Jeffraham Prestonian, 29. August 2008, 18:45

Five posts, starting here, in less than 12 hours.

What, you get Saturdays off? Your boss must be a liberal. That shit don’t fly in the Marianas.

    Anyway…

[…] I have to admit, like JP I was rather surprised when I got home this evening and found that nobody had posted on McCain’s brilliant pick of a running mate, Sarah Palin. As I said in this post just a couple of days ago, “Choosing woman for the Republican ticket would be the equivalent of a home run. Choosing a female governor, or former governor would just about cover all bases. Can you say Sarah Palin?” […]

SARAH PALIN??NEVER HEARD OF IN THE USA…OTHER THAN ALASKA.. FIRST OF ALL WHEN DOES SHE HAVE TIME TO RAISE A FAMILY, WHEN SHE SPENDS ALL OF HER TIME SEEKING FAME AND FORTUNE>>>FIVE CHILDREN, A SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD AND A YOUNG BABY, WHEN DOES SHE HAVE TIME TO BOND WITH THEM, LET ALONE NOURISH THEM?
SHE HAS HER EYES SET ON THE WOMEN WHO VOTED FOR HILLARY, SHE CAN FORGET THEM..THEY DIDNT VOTE BECAUSE SHE WAS A WOMAN, THEY VOTED FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS (EDUCATED),INTELLIGENT AND IS CAPABLE OF
RUNNING FOR THE OFFICE..YOU SEE BESIDES EVERY THING ELSE, HILLARY WAS A GOOD AND LOVING MOTHER,SHE WAS NOT A “BABY-MACHINE”, AND SHE TOOK TIME TO BOND WITH HER CHILD.

    Wow. Spectacular. Lovely.

I’ll bet your other favorite site is TMZ, huh, KIM?

Hey, maybe JP needs a date. I hear he’ll cross the aisle…if the price is right.

Thanks KIMZ. It’s rich to be lectured on what-women-should-act-like from the Tolerant Party.

  22. Jean Pack, 8. September 2008, 17:50

I believe Sarah Palin is a very fresh and honest person we need in politics. It just so happens she is a woman and that makes it even better. I believe she is terrific. I hope nothing discourages her (like the press) I can’t believe how they have been treating her daughter. I am pleased the daughter and her future husband have not let this interfer with their relationship. Don’t you just love the little daughter handling her little brother, fixing his hair and holding him so tenderly.
    Go Palin…….

  23. Carol Ann, 9. September 2008, 19:27

I am a first time writer, but qanted to tell all you folks out there about my sister. She was not even going to vote this election, until sarah got put in the picture. We are so impressed by her & her ideals. We are actially excited about this election now. John McCain made a fantastic choice. She is who is going to win the race for him.

    Bullshit, JB.

I’ll support Sarah Palin in whatever role she chooses to take.

Sarah Palin, It is a shame that you are not our VP. Senator McCain is probably the most Honest man in America. He HAS A CODE OF ETHICS which He Clearly stands Strong by. America is in a spiral downfall and I don’t think Obama can pull it off.
If ACORN was honest with our Tax money, and our Troops votes counted, McCain/Palin WOULD HAVE WON! It is shame acorn got away with all those dead peoples’ votes, felons, fake names, underage voters and people voting multiple times!! Considering all this illegal voting McCain / Palin ran a very close Campaign. Not to mention we now have a president that could not pass a security clearance for the CIA or FBI. But that is not required to be our President of the USA. I lived in AZ 15 years, I think I will move to Alaska. Thank-you McCain/Palin, I feel like someone sucker-punched my gut! This was the most unfair election in History!
    Thank you Debbie NC
