Et Tu NPR? Is Global Warming over?
William, you may want to sit down before you read this.
NPR reports today that “the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years”.
Some 3,000 scientific robots that are plying the ocean have sent home a puzzling message. These diving instruments suggest that the oceans have not warmed up at all over the past four or five years. That could mean global warming has taken a breather. Or it could mean scientists aren’t quite understanding what their robots are telling them.
What will William say?
A.) You’re an idiot
B.) NPR is funded by Exxon
C.) The robots are lying
D.) Global Warming is only is the air
E) Short-term results are not in and of themselves and accurate representation of long-term trends?
And, of course, if Number 9 were to actually read the whole story instead of just cherry picking an early paragraph, he would see that the story doesn’t say what he seems to pretend it says.
A news headline in the hands of a rightwing global warming denier is like a loaded gun in the hands of a five-year-old. Read the whole article:

Ignorance rules the simplistic mind of conservative ideologues. They are not capable of understanding complex scientific issues in long term perspective. Their only function is to grasp at straws, to tout any shred of info that even superficially reinforces their ideology, which has nothing to do with the overall issue, and often, as this post demonstrates, they misunderstand the ‘evidence ‘ they cite.

As much as scientists want to make conclusive statements about global warming, the truth is they don’t know what is going to happen. It’s all theory. There is real change going on. Is it caused by people? Who knows. But whether it is or not I’m afraid it’s too late to do anything about it.
Al Gore is making a lot of cash, but his primary goal is to pay back the ‘evil white conservatives’ who deprived him of his ‘rightful’ Presidency.
And, he wouldn’t mind seeing capitalism fail. That would save the planet, surely!

Actually, it is about the science. It is about how politics can corrupt science. It is about how a Pied Piper can lure the money from save the Earth liberals by inventing Man-Bear-Pig. It is about a new religion that is even goofier than Scientology. It is about the gullibility of people who think the human race is all powerful and can control climate.
Yeah, it’s a religion so goofy, that the overwhelming majority of non-politically-connected scientists have come to embrace it! Those crazy bastards! I wonder what their operating Thetan levels are?
It’s hilarious how people who are so explicitly political constantly accuse the scientists of being politically motivated. It’s even more hilarious how most of the people doing the accusing are themselves scientific imbeciles.
These scientist use modules to predict what the climate will be like in 50 to 100 years. The funny thing is those same modules can’t even predict(accuratley) the climate, days in advance. They used those modules and used the same weather from back in the 50’s to see if they could put in the numbers and come out with today’s climate. Well, what do ya know….the modules were wrong. They were no where close to coming out with today’s climate. I wonder why they can’t post those facts all over CNN. Just check out the AMS certified Meteorologists. They will give you the truth. They can no more predict 50 to 100 years than they can 3 to 7 days in advance. Hard for those lefty Al Gore lovers to swallow.
