Mission not accomplished: suicide bombings doubled in 2007, over a half million GIs with brain injuries/mental problems
In a report (pdf) published by the National Defense University in Washington, retired colonel and former senior adviser to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Joseph Collins has described the Iraq war as a “major debacle” whose outcome is “in doubt.”
Read excerpts (USA Today) from the Colonel’s report that calls the Bush Administration’s decision to invade: “a classic case of failure to adopt and adapt prudent courses of action that balance ends, ways, and means” resulting in a “damaged” and “fallen” status as a moral leader in the world, “a severely strained military,” and, most importantly, “a negative impact on all other efforts in the war on terror.”
The cost of invasion has been high.
A study by the RAND Corp. estimated 320,000 troops have sustained a possible traumatic brain injury during deployment and another 300,000 suffer from symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder or depression. (story)
On top of all that, what has been accomplished? Terrorist suicide bombings doubled world wide in 2007 compared with 2006 according to data compiled by U.S. government experts. (story)
Looks like “the surge” has had quite an effect.
Poorly worded title William. Brain injuries and PTS should not be combined like that. Is it possible for you to be honest? Your rhetoric is disingenuous.
You other “conclusions” are faulty also. Seriously, pick it up. This is becoming a habit with you.
The character “/” is generally meant to mean “and/or” - the statement is accurate. Your denial is abject. These aren’t “my” conclusions, they are the conclusions of government stats, studies and high ranking officials who know alot more about what they speak of than you.
The title is yours. The point is that “and” “or” sensational rhetoric accomplishes little.
We can torture any subject with lies, damned lies, and statistics. The truth is no one knows what has been accomplished in this war. It will be twenty years before the dust settles.
One thing is known, you bring an attack on America and there will be blood. In a War on Terror, if an enemy of my enemy, is my friend. Then devastating the friend of an enemy sends a message. The message is simple, don’t fuck with America. That message is clear. It is a message these creatures understand.
Due to the incompetence of GW Bush “these creatures” have established a safe haven, grown stronger, while the US military is “severely strained” and the US economy is going down. Can’t you read?
Col. Collins: The Iraq invasion has had “a negative impact on all other efforts in the war on terror.”
GAO: The United States Lacks a Comprehensive Plan to Destroy the Terrorist Threat and Close the Safe Haven in Pakistan’s Federally Administered Tribal Areas
Further, the report states that the Bush Administration has no plans to eliminate this known terrorist threat.
Your idiotic support of a failed strategy in this war on terror typifies the ingnorance of authoritarian Bush supporters and the incompetence that has weakened America, foolishly and unwittingly playing right into the hands of al Qaeda. You think this is a course worth staying to, with no end in sight except the gradual weakening and destruction of the US military, the reputation of America, and the US economy? Of course if you would like to help the enemy, stay the course… 100 more years… no lets make it a thousand…. ten thousand.
There is enough oil in the Dakota’s to solve the American energy problem if the America people just had the will to extract that oil. This “War” is a war of ideology with an enemy who will either kill us, convert us, or die themselves. Unless your plan is to pray to Mecca five times a day figure out the next best alternative. That is either die or convert them. Take your pick.
Cars don’t run on moonbeams. Electricity doesn’t come from the Sun. We have to have power so we buy it at the lowest possible price. So we buy that power from the people who want us to convert to their ideology or see us dead.
But the hippie solution is to surrender to the ideology of our enemies and pretend that cars can run on moonbeams.
Ergo, hippies are the problem.
Hippie, cure thyself.
surrender to the ideology of our enemies
Ah, so the ideology of the US occupying Arab countries is an ideology you think you can get them to accept? An ideology that is in the best interest of the US and world peace?
You and your wingnuts don’t seem to get it. You can’t kill every person who doesn’t think like you. As a Rhodes Scholar named Bill Clinton said,
In contrast, a dumb cowboy once said,
Lack of intelligence, knowledge and a world view is your affliction. Cure thyself.
Unless your plan is to pray to Mecca five times a day figure out the next best alternative. That is either die or convert them. Take your pick.
My plan is to send you over there, to finish the job, right.
Get busy.
.
As a Rhodes Scholar named Bill Clinton said, “I don’t know what the meaning of the word “is”, is.”
Tell you what, 9 — I’ll volunteer to get a blowjob from someone not my wife, while you volunteer to do more than wave Andover pom-poms in the name of this Intractable Foe. Let us know how you fare in Jerry Bremer’s Flat Tax Paradise, will ya?
.
“we live in an interdependent world in which we cannot possibly kill, jail or occupy all of our potential adversaries. So we have to both fight terror and build a world with more partners and fewer terrorists.”
Nice. That from the man who did nothing to stop Bin Laden. The man who ran in Somalia. The man who signaled weakness that other Americans paid for with their lives.
I prefer this historical quote, “We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and the oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”
Because a relatively small movement of radical islamists with no centralized organization operating out of a wilderness represents just as serious a threat to our civilization as a fully industrialized technologically superior fully mobilized military force.
That from the man who did nothing to stop Bin Laden.
George W. Bush, y’mean? The guy who bankrupted our military (except for our excellent nukes!), and STILL hasn’t caught that fucker? What a sad excuse for a C-i-C.
.
The man who signaled weakness that other Americans paid for with their lives.
Do you believe the stones on this asshole? Bush launched a war that continues to kill and maim US GIs… 320,000 brain injuries, one or two die everyday with no end in sight as the violence increases again. Clinton with NATO brought down Miloševic along with several other war criminals without one single US combat casualty.
Could you be any dumber? Are you the governor of Dumbfuckistan?
Have you forgotten 9/11?
9/11 proves two things:
1) The failure of Bill Clinton, and
2) The only way to ensure our safety is to eliminate the Muslim threat.
Because safety is priority one in the home of the brave.
Because a relatively small movement of radical islamists with no centralized organization operating out of a wilderness represents just as serious a threat to our civilization as a fully industrialized technologically superior fully mobilized military force.
You’re about a cowardly fuck, aren’t you?
.
Never forget
Do you believe the stones on this asshole?
Asshole? So when a person has an opinion different from yours they become an “asshole”?
I wonder how many people decide not to participate here because of your ad hominem attacks? Have you noticed that very few people respond to you? There is a reason for that.
