Maxine Waters Slips Up And Tells What The Democrats Really Want To Do
When discussing the harassment of a private company by government, I neglected this telling little nugget from Maxine Waters.
“And guess what this liberal will be all about? This liberal will be all about socializing…. uh, umm… will be about… basically… taking over… and the government running all of your companies.”
Thank you for your honesty Ms Waters. No wonder American liberals are so in love with Hugo Chavez. Pretty frightening, is it not?
Pretty frightening, is it not?
I’m sleepin’ with the Sig under my pillow.
.
Yeah, liberals just love Chavez. And conservatives love Charles Taylor, while we’re making massive (and massively unfair) generalizations.
Uh, Liberals do love Chavez; you may not or may claim not to, but many others do. Love to see a list of Conservatives gallivanting around with or endorsing Charles Taylor.
James Howard Kunstler says that Americans will elect maniacs in order to preserve the suburban lifestyle. Maxine Waters represents the leftwing version. The rightwing version will be to invade countries and steal their oil as well as drill every inch of ground in this country. Both will fail.
P.S. It’s a childish overgeneralization to say that liberals love Chavez. The same sort of overgeneralization that all rightwingers engage in.
Is it an over generalization to say that what they really want to do is nationalize the oil companies? Tgirsch, is always saying that we mis-use the term socialist when talking about liberals. Do we really?

Is it true that all loyal Republicans are poorly socialized?
nedwilliams:
They don’t publicly endorse Taylor — they just make millions doing business with him (Robertson in particular is guilty of this). The market apparently decided that profitable tyrants are good tyrants.
glendean:
If there’s a groundswell of effort among prominent liberals to nationalize the oil companies, I certainly haven’t seen it. Regulate the snot out of them? Sure. But nationalize them? I just haven’t seen anyone prominent seriously suggest that we do that. You’re going to need a lot more than a sound bite from a single congresswoman if you want to establish that it’s anywhere close to the mainstream of “liberal” opinion.
Frankly, I think it’s a good thing, long term, that they’re gouging us so bad for gas. It will help push us into getting serious about energy efficiency and renewables, and maybe finally get us to wake up and get serious about reducing our dependency on foreign energy sources.
Sounds like you believe in markets.
I do believe in markets. I also believe in regulation. These are not mutually exclusive propositions, you know.
Unlike the “free trade” crowd, I just don’t think that markets will magically make the world a better place all by themselves. I understand that there are many, many cases where the profit motive and the good of the people are at odds with one another, and left unchecked, markets will always choose the former.
