Regarding the url etched in william’s brain
Today, instead of dismissing william’s most recent ad hominem attack as, well, an ad hominem attack, I thought I’d read a little bit more about his Conservatism-as-pathology credo. It was an interesting exercise.
Reading the article touting the study (a link provided by william), I realized that all the substantive stuff is at the end of the article:
The researchers said that conservative ideologies, like virtually all belief systems, develop in part because they satisfy some psychological needs, but that “does not mean that conservatism is pathological or that conservative beliefs are necessarily false, irrational, or unprincipled.” They also stressed that their findings are not judgmental.
“In many cases, including mass politics, ‘liberal’ traits may be liabilities, and being intolerant of ambiguity, high on the need for closure, or low in cognitive complexity might be associated with such generally valued characteristics as personal commitment and unwavering loyalty,” the researchers wrote.
This intolerance of ambiguity can lead people to cling to the familiar, to arrive at premature conclusions, and to impose simplistic cliches and stereotypes, the researchers advised.
. . . .
Glaser acknowledged that the team’s exclusive assessment of the psychological motivations of political conservatism might be viewed as a partisan exercise. However, he said, there is a host of information available about conservatism, but not about liberalism.
The researchers conceded cases of left-wing ideologues, such as Stalin, Khrushchev or Castro, who, once in power, steadfastly resisted change, allegedly in the name of egalitarianism.
Hmmm. William, did you read that far or was the “thrill going up [your] leg” too much of a distraction?
I love Ned Williams
Because of people like him, people who just love GW Bush and have supported him continuously, he has singlehandedly destroyed the Republican brand.
As a result:
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
Thanks Ned, Capt, Glen, Serr8d, and all wingnuts who have supported our cause and ruined Republicanism for the forseeable future.
You guys got this’n in the bag, william!!
Your hero George “the chimp” Bush has singlehandedly destroyed the Republican brand. Thank you Ned for supporting this venture. In the words of our distinguished president…
“Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?”
– GW Bush
And he answers his question:
“There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” — GW Bush
Thanks again…
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
WE HAVE ASSUMED CONTROL
“I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

“I’ll be long gone before some smart person ever figures out what happened inside this Oval Office.”

Why? Because…
