CNN searches for ignorant Republicans and finds them. Where else, but in Tennessee?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Tennessee but why are there so many ignorant xenophobic people in rural white TN? Personally, I’d have no problem voting for Obama if he were a Muslim, even though he’s not. I wish he didn’t feel compelled to espouse any religion but unfortunately, that is not permitted among politicians in America if they expect to win. The very suggestion that he is Muslim has spread among the racist ignorant like a virus. CNN went looking to find real people infected with this virus of ignorance.

This evening, CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked about Barack Obama, “why is it that there are still so many people, more than one in 10 in recent polling, who still believe he’s a Muslim?”

CNN’s Gary Tuchman went looking for a place where ignorance lives. He found what he was looking for in Copperhill, Tennessee. He interviewed many residents who believed Obama is a Muslim, including the Mayor of Copperhill.

Here’s one of the conversations:

GARY TUCHMAN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: What concerns you about Barack Obama?

TN FEMALE: The safety of our country if Obama gets in. I do — he is a Muslim, and I’m very concerned about that.

TUCHMAN: The fact is, he says he’s not a Muslim. He says he’s a Christian.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, I know what he says. (LAUGHS)

Tuchman said of the roughly 2 dozen people he talked to, all but one believe Obama is a Muslim.  Shoot, even my barber from Woodbury thinks Obama is a Muslim.

Democrats prove that they could care less if the price of gasoline reaches $10.00 per gallon.

This video (from CSPAN, today) shows Americans that the Democrats will not allow even a debate on the Senate floor, on our demands to allow drilling for oil on our own continental shelves, even if gasoline hits $10.00 per gallon.

Senator Mitch McConnell, (R) Senate Minority Leader, asks for unanimous consent that the Senate proceed to the immediate consideration of a Senate Bill to address drilling in the outer continental shelf…

Senator Ken Salazar, (D) Colorado: I object.

McConnell: [Renews proposed consent agreement, with the enactment date triggered when the price of gasoline reaches $4.50 at the pump.]

Salazar: I object.

And so on. Senator McConnell increments the proposed trigger, each time getting the grim response: “I Object”.

At $4.50/Gallon: Democrats: Object

At $5.00/Gallon: Democrats: Object

“What is the definition of an emergency?” At $7.50/Gallon: Democrats: Object

At $10.00/Gallon: Democrats: Object

You can see where this is going, right? Democrats now have a complete disregard of the ‘little guy’, of the average American’s woes at the pump. This is proof of the complete disregard of the working-class Americans that Democrats say they ‘favor’. Over the rich (who can afford $10.00/gallon gasoline).

We can see who Democrats ‘favor’ and are truly beholden to: the Environmentalists. And the Al Gore global warmalists who would rather see the U.S. economy slump than admit that the earth’s warming isn’t caused by…the U.S.’s economy, or even the World’s economy. And, of course, Democrats are beholden to winning at all costs, in November.

Seems that they are getting a bit carried away by their own hubris.

Gallup Daily Tracking Poll: Obama 45%, McCain 44%

A couple of days ago, about a minute after the Messiah returned from Europe, Willie titled a post “The Berlin Bounce…“. Well now that a few days have past and we are really able to see what effect Obama’s “I ought to be UN Secretary General” speech had on the campaign, we see that there was definitely a bounce, but the bounce was backward.

When I heard that speech on the radio, I knew it would backfire. Americans don’t like their presidential candidates going to Europe and giving globalist speeches in front of record crowds. Now obviously some Americans do. Some Americans, like William for example, would just about rather have Europeans choose America’s president, instead of Americans. After all, those Europeans are so much more sophisticated.

Most Americans also do not like having a presidential candidate shoved down their throat 24/7 by the television and print media. Nobody likes to be told who to vote for. Any novice media observer had to know that a backlash was coming. Perhaps the MSM was so drunk on Obama-Aid, that they allowed themselves to be blinded. Sometimes true love has that effect.

So here we are, and according to Gallup, McCain leads among likely voters 49%- 45%, and he is now virtually tied among those who are merely registered to vote.

Wake up folks. If your guy, who is still yet to crack 50, isn’t ahead now, you guys are screwed. This election is a referendum on Obama, and Obama is having a hard time finding 50% of the country to vote “yes”.

McCain strategy: LIE

John McCain continues to lie about Obama’s tax plan, even after his lies have been exposed by independent fact checkers.

Lying is a tried and true Republican strategy (i.e… “moral values,” SBVT, et…), particularly effective since their constituency tends to be the less educated and aware - you know, the kind of people who base their vote on fear, buzz words and slogans like cut n’ run, tax n’ spend, Obama is a Muslim, etc …. without having the foggiest idea of the truth.

NBC:

McCain and his campaign repeated at least two lines of attack against Obama, which when first said in early July, were called “bogus,” “wrong,” “inflated” and “misleading” by independent fact checkers.

At his town hall today, McCain repeated that Obama wants to raise taxes on those making as little as $32,000 a year and in his campaign’s response to Obama’s event in Springfield, Mo., today, repeated that “…Obama’s bad judgment led him to vote in support of higher taxes 94 times….”

For a thorough debunking of the “$32,000 lie” and the lie that “Obama voted for higher taxes 94 times” — see here and here.

McCain’s desperate strategy now includes repeated lies, and that is documented.

Federal Judges rule against Bush Administration - executive privilege claims for Bolton and Miers bogus; must turn over missing emails

The rule of law is a noose that is beginning to tighten around the neck of the Bush Administration - the most corrupt Executive branch in American history.

Bush appointed US District Judge has ruled that the Bush Administration’s claims of executive privilege for former staffers Josh Bolton and Harriet Miers are bogus - they must comply with subpoenas about the firing of nine U.S. attorneys. Bolten and Miers must give Congress all documents related to the firings.

“The Executive’s current claim of absolute immunity from compelled congressional process for senior presidential aides is without any support in the case law.” - Judge U.S. District Judge John Bates

What makes this remarkable is that Judge Bates was appointed by President George W. Bush in December 2001 and appointed to the FISA court by Justice John Roberts in 2006. On many previous occasions, his rulings have helped cover-up for the administration’s wrongdoings.

In a separate case, U.S. District Court Judge John M. Facciola ordered the Bush administration to locate the missing emails on laptops, portable media devices, and individual workstations. Emails from Vice President Dick Cheney’s office went missing during a crucial period of time when he and aides were involved in stemming the tide of the Valerie Plame scandal.

Obama’s Arrogance…“I have become a symbol of the possibility of America.”

Just sayin’.

Got yer symbolism, right here.

Well, if you think about it, that crap’s not much different than the standard hateful leftist lines from ‘enlightened’ folk all across this land. The likes of Atrios, KOS, DU, the rest of the usual suspects…I’d rather hear ‘lude boy here than read any of their crap.

Those and their ilk, it’s all jive talkin’.

At least Ludacris is down from the heart.

McCain and the RNC take the low road

Check out these juvenile attack ads by the McCain campaign against Obama:

The first,  calling him a Marxist, and the second equating him with oversexed and/or promiscuous young white women, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears… (a la the infamous TN GOP Harold Ford Playboy ad).

Obama’s response.

How would you characterize this quote?

“What you’re going to see is a great debate. Which is what the American public deserves. None of this negative stuff, though. You won’t see it come out of our side at all.”

– Cindy McCain, Today Show, May 8, 2008

McCain - a classless act and this negativity shows a desperate loser.  Some Republicans are concerned with this trash and have spoken out.

Blackwater May Have Broken Federal Laws to Obtain Lucrative Contracts

 Speaking of…

Blackwater misrepresented the size of its firm so it could receive more than $100 million in small business contracts from the federal government, according to a report released Monday.

The Inspector General of the Small Business Administration (SBA) said the mercenary outfit obtained a total of 39 contracts intended for small businesses with annual revenues of $6.5 million between 2005 and 2007. But the report said Blackwater’s revenue surpassed $200 million for those years.

The Department of Defense wrongfully awarded Blackwater aviation contracts worth $107 million. That contract was earmarked for companies with annual revenues of less than $25 million or less than 1,500 employees, the report said.

Obama’s “Rosie O’Donnell Moment”

Here’s an interesting story in light of my recent viewing of “Iraq For Sale” about–among other baaaad companies, Blackwater. At the end of the article, “Blackwater protected Barack Obama in Afghanistan,” Toby Harnden writes:

In his Washington Whispers column, the well-connected Paul Bedard reports that Obama was overheard saying that ‘Blackwater is getting a bad rap’. A fairly startling alleged observation given his previous utterances about the company - though perhaps unsurprising given he was in a war zone and his life was in the hands of Blackwater guards.A tight-lipped Anne Tyrrell, spokeswoman for Blackwater, said she could neither confirm nor deny that the company had been involved in the visits by the senators to Afghanistan or Iraq. My request to Bill Burton, Obama’s national spokesman, for comment on the Bedard story - including whether the alleged quote or its sentiment was genuine - went unanswered.

But a source familiar with Obama’s security arrangements told me that Blackwater, along with the Secret Service, did pull security for the three senators in Afghanistan, though not Iraq.

Deceiver describes this as Obama’s ‘Rosie O’Donnell moment’ That’s maybe a tad harsh but it will be interesting to see whether Obama’s public position on Blackwater changes as a result of his up-close time with their personnel in Afghanistan.

Republican conservative “family values” Senator who criticized Janet Jackson Superbowl stunt has fund raiser at strip club

Hypocrisy - a Republican Family Value

Family-values conservative GOP Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) has been holding fundraisers at a strip club in Vegas. Sessions was publicly livid over Janet Jackson’s “liberal values” when she bared 1 inch of her tit during the SuperBowl a few years back. Sessions was less upset about the boobs shown at his fundraisers at a Vegas strip joint.

Below is a photo from the club… strippers in front of an American flag… I’m just overcome with patriotism! BTW… Sen. Sessions also supports a constitutional amendment to ban desecration of the flag. Republicans are such a conflicted bunch. Remember this? Tits are dirty symbols of the evil liberals… except when they help raise money for Republicans.

More pics from the club and story

On side note,  I have seen so much sleeze among conservative politicians and infidelity among southern christian married people, you have to wonder about the dynamic that makes this possible. This hypocrisy is made possible in part by the christian belief that we’re all sinners and we will be forgiven, as long as we repent to god: “repent sinner and you will be forgiven,” go to church and you’ll be ‘new’ again. A perfect license for moral bankruptcy, and from what I’ve see… that’s a christian value. Kinda like, commit any crime to further the authority and power of the Bush administration because the chief will pardon you in the end.

Drop In Homelessness, According to USA Today, Is A “Success Story”

What a weird heading to this article. I mean, no kidding. What is their next headline going to be, “Economy Grows and that is Actually a Good Thing.”

Question for you libs. How in the world does this happen during a Republican Administration? Are you disappointed? Be honest now. You know you would rather those people stay on the streets, in order to prove we need more liberalism, more Democrats.

House Judiciary Committee approves resolution to hold Karl Rove in Contempt of Congress

Karl Rove has been cited for contempt. Rove has recently defied a committee subpoena, refusing to testify on the firing of federal prosecutors and the politicization of the Department of Justice. The recent Inspector General report seems to strengthen the case against Rove in that the report found members of the Justice Dept. guilty of breaking federal civil service laws by using politics to guide their hiring decisions (picking less-qualified applicants on the basis of political affiliation) . The report also stated that White House officials were involved.

Knowing the Bush White House, an underling will likely be sacrificed to protect Bush, Cheney and Rove, in this case the likely sacrificial goat will be Monica Goodling. This pathetic practice of sending staff to face criminal charges to protect Bush and his cronies was seen in the conviction of Scooter Libby. It’s a perfect system for the Bush administration criminals because Bush remains protected and he pardons those convicted.

If the full House acts on this, there is little time. It looks as if Karl Rove has stalled long enough. After Friday, the House is gone on recess until after Labor Day, when it is only expected to return for three weeks before leaving again for the year.

It’s amazing to see this disgusting and corrupt criminal take his place as a pundit and ‘political analyst’ on Fox News. Where else?  What other news source could condone such a culture of corruption?

Rush Limbaugh: Celebrating 20 years of Maddening teh Liberals NEW! Rush might buy the St. Louis Rams!

Hell of a run. Rush is still the top dog in talk radio. Twenty years, has it really been that long? Yesterday, Donald Rumsfeld gave him kudos. For his twenty years of excellence in broadcasting.

I’ve seen him twice, in Nashville. The first time in his ‘Rush to Excellence’ tour, probably in 1989 I think; then in 1993 when he was the keynote speaker at the NRA convention.

The guy is wildly funny, and deadly accurate. Some of his earlier stuff was much more ‘edgy’ than we’re hearing now.  He’s competing with bloggers for audience. Of course in 1988, there were no bloggers.

I don’t have time to listen all that much, maybe 30-40 minutes a week. But if something politically charged is happening, I try to catch Rush’s take, because it will be well worth hearing.

Keep it up, Rush. You’ve done a fine job. You’re worth every cent of that mega-contract.

(But that tie! Can you believe he used to sell those things? And no, I never bought one, either… )
UPDATED

Rush Limbaugh might purchase the St. Louis Rams, if they become available. From The Radio Equalizer (h/t Ace)…

To the soreheaded lefties still steaming over his mega- contract renewal deal, here’s some salt for the wounds. Finally, to our self- appointed “civil rights leaders” and their never- ending quest to keep professional sports as polticially correct as possible, here’s a new reason to march in the streets.

That’s right, Rush Limbaugh may use some of that massive advance money (and take on new debt) to purchase a NFL team.

Will the angry mob that fought Limbaugh’s brief ESPN tenure be able to stop him? It could take some clever maneuvering this time around, but don’t think they won’t give it their best shot.

I’m a Titans season-ticket holder, so dislike of the Rams is built in to my being (Kurt Warner still suks!); but if Rush buys an interest in the Rams, I’ll have to add them to my short list of favorites.

For unhinged leftists, not so much…

July 28, 2008 8:42 pm  I would never watch the Rams if he was the owner!

I would never watch the Rams play any team if he becomes an owner. I’m a 49er fan and that would be at least 2 games a year i would not watch. There is no possible way the NFL would approve the sale of the Rams to this guy. The guy was and maybe still is a drug addict, not to mention the most politically incorrect person …

July 28, 2008 6:48 pm  Would Rush field an all white team?

I’m wondering how far he’d take his team, see if he feels that putting his money where his mouth is.

I think all those right wing people are all phoneys, and if they had to poney up for what they say, they’d wimper away.

Rush doesn’t have the guts to actually follow through and put himself on the line…..

Speaking of the nutty, the angry, and the unhinged, I’m sure William and JP will check in here soonest. Mentioning Rush Limbaugh to liberals is like offering catnip to a alleycat. They can’t help but glaze in the eyes and do the moonbat tango…

GOP Culture of Corruption: Republican Senator Ted Stevens indicted on 7 counts

Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator has been indicted on seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.

This is the way Republicans do business. He cashed in and lied about it.

CNN:

Stevens “knowingly and willfully engaged in a scheme to conceal … his continuing receipt of hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of things of value” by failing to report them on his annual financial disclosure forms.

Stevens is up for reelection in Nov.

heh… this could be one step closer to that veto-proof 60 seat majority in the Senate for the Democrats.

Polls: Why USA Today/Gallup is a bogus outlier

Today’s (8/29/08) Gallup daily tracking poll: Obama +6 (47%-41%)

First, look at all of the polls taken since May. Anyone see something unusual? Like something red that sticks out like a sore thumb? The very definition of outlier.

Second, in the USA Today poll showing McCain +4, Gallup uses an almost 50 -50 split among Democrat and Republicans in making up their “likely voter” sample:

Gallup Likely Voter Sample
July 25-27 USAT Poll
McCain Leads 49%-44%

Republican: 34%
Independent: 29%
Democrat: 36%

This is BS for 2 reasons: 1) Gallup is making large assumptions about who will be a likely voter. Gallup wants you to believe that if the election were held today, in the midst of McCain’s recent gaffes, that there would be a surge of GOP voters to his cause and a drop-off of independent voters. Very unlikely, particularly with the huge unprecedented youth turnout demonstrated in the Democratic primaries. 2) Even by data from conservative pollsters, the number of voters identifying themselves as Democratic is at least 10 % points higher than those who say they’re Republican. (41% to 31%).

Gallup did the exact same thing with their samples to inflate the support for Bush at a time when other pollsters were not showing the same level of GOP support.

Oh, and just for comparison, this is the sample composition of a Gallup poll just three weeks ago:

June 5-July 6, 2008 Poll
Republican: 21%
Independent: 38%
Democrat: 35%

Third, just compare the sample size and margin of error of the 2 polls:

Gallup Daily Tracking - 2668 / Margin of error: 2%

USA Today/Gallup - 791 / Margin of error: 4%

NOTE: The 791 sample size for the Gallup USA Today poll that showed John McCain leading Obama is the smallest sample size of any poll recognized by the RCP index in 3 months.

H/T: Leftcoaster

Why My Poll Makes Sense and William’s Is Useless

It’s like this. The Daily Tracking Poll that William gets off on everyday is a sample of registered voters. The poll I cited, uses a more reliable method. That poll actually surveyed people who are likely to vote. So tell me folks. Who is going to decide the election? Will it be people who vote, or people who are merely registered to vote?

Let me put it another way. THE YOUTH VOTE STAYS HOME! OLD PEOPLE VOTE! Just think about that, when all of those college kids are sitting around their apartments doing bong hits on election day.

Once again though, these polls are just snapshots, and a lot can happen between now and November.

Tgirsch seems to think that the press has been harder on Obama, since he secured the nomination. Speaking of bong hits, is he serious? Every time “the Messiah” opens his mouth, the big three practically has a group orgasm. Well yes, Katie Couric did ask him a tough question once, but that was just because she’s a woman and he is a misogynist. Heh!

Justice Department Inspector General: Bush Administration broke the law

What we all knew, White House implicated in illegal activity … yet another brick in the wall of the Republican Culture of Corruption:

NYT

Senior aides to former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales broke civil service laws by using politics to guide their hiring decisions, picking less-qualified applicants for important nonpolitical positions, slowing the hiring process at critical times, and damaging the department’s credibility, an internal report concluded on Monday.

The report, prepared by the Justice Department’s inspector general and its internal ethics office, centered on the misconduct of a small circle of aides to Mr. Gonzales, including Monica Goodling, a former top adviser to the attorney general, and Kyle Sampson, his former chief of staff. It also found that White House officials were actively involved in some hiring decisions.

Last month, the inspector general, Glenn A. Fine, and the Office of Professional Responsibility released a separate report that found a similar pattern of politicized hiring at the Justice Department in reviewing applications from young lawyers for the honors and intern programs.

The report released on Monday goes much further in documenting pervasive evidence of political hiring for some of the department’s most senior career positions, including immigration judges, assistant United States attorneys and even senior counterterrorism positions.

The pattern appeared most damaging in the hiring of immigration judges, as vacancies were allowed to go unfilled — and a backlog of deportation cases grew — while Mr. Gonzales’s aides looked for conservative lawyers to fill what were supposed to be apolitical jobs.
