Clark Was Technically Right
Now we all know that what Wesley Clark said was politically stupid, and that it was a gift to the McCain campaign. We also know that the far left, especially the kook bloggers, one of which has a username and password at this website, will say or write anything, including attack his military service, in order to further Obama.
But think about what Clark actually said.
Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.
What is wrong with that statement? Many men served this country honorably in Vietnam and other conflicts, but few of them should be President. George McGovern was a war hero, as was Bob Dole, but both lost landslide elections to men who were not. A person’s military service speaks well of their character. The fact that McCain could have left the prison camp earlier, due to his father’s position, but chose not to, speaks especially well of his.
The whole chickenhawk argument is the stupidest ever made, and it is only made by lefties when the situation calls for it. Military service is good and should be honored, but it is not a necessary qualification for President, not even in a time of war. If you disagree, tell it to Lincoln, and Roosevelt. Heck, tell it to James Madison.
The Democrats are all over the place on this though. In 2004, they basically said “Kerry served in Vietnam and Bush didn’t”, and that was pretty much supposed to be reason enough to vote for him.

Considering GHW Bush lost to Clinton - who never served… GWB who was an AWOL national guard “pilot” “beat” both Gore and Kerry - Vietnam vets… I’d say you are correct. It is clear that when we see the struggling and confused old man McSame speak, it becomes apparent that he has long past his glory days as a military hero and we need to trust our leadership to someone young, smart and aware… someone who maybe knows how to use a computer.
A person’s military service speaks well of their character.
To pick a nit, it can, but doesn’t necessarily. It depends on the nature of their service, not the mere fact of it.

My take on this is that it was reactionary, and part of why the Dems made the mistake of choosing Kerry to represent them in 2004.
It’s not so much that Kerry’s military service was supposed to be reason to vote for him. It’s that it was a poorly-executed attempt to short-circuit the sort of criticsm that plagued Clinton. The whole “draft dodger” crap that the GOP beat up Clinton with was still fresh in their minds, and the hypocrisy of the same GOP so unashamedly supporting Bush — who couldn’t even be bothered to show up for the cushy combat-avoiding gig he got — seemed palpable to many of them. Even in 2000, it was the GOP that was using military service as a bully stick to beat up Democrats, and Kerry was a reactionary response to this. But at the end of the day, they had still chosen a less-than-charismatic candidate (to understate it immensely), and were also nowhere near as good at manipulating the media coverage as the GOP was.
Oh, and unfortunately for McCain, he has a record since his military service ended, and that record on “supporting the troops” is less than stellar.
Wesley Clark’s the real war criminal. He bombed civilian populations with airstrikes for 73 days and caused a humanitarian crisis to attack a country that didn’t attack us, wasn’t funding terrorism, had no strategic use to the US, didn’t pose a threat to its neighbors, and didn’t have weapons of mass destruction.
He attacked Christians who were fighting back against Muslim-separatists.
He acted as the General of Al-Qaeda West and his carcass should be dragged through the streets before being thrown into a septic tank.
Plus, he sucks Michael Moore’s cock for lunch money. That’s how he financed his first campaign.
Now, the Obamessiah simply turns the organ grinder and his white monkey does his dance for the cameras. What a country. A bitter, bisexual Affirmative Action couple makes a run for the Presidency with a gay General slinging his feces at a fairly well-regarded ex-POW on their behalf.
How far we’ve come. Something to really be proud of.
Meathead, if you didn’t hate the troops, you’d realize that Clark didn’t take those actions on his own — he was following orders from JCS, who got their orders from the civilian leadership in the government, at the time.
Why do you hate the troops?
.
That’s why Bill Clinton is a war criminal too when he’s not out raping women.
I agree. Clark is a scumbag.
