In the face of the majority of leftists in this country turning their backs on the Wars we’re still fighting…

THAT WAS NOT A PHOTO OP!
.
You’re exactly right, JP.
That was 1200 soldiers; real, live, and in a war zone, re-enlisting because they love this country. And they believe in what they are doing. And they believe in their commander-in-chief, President George Bush.
They could’ve turned their backs and walked away, like many of the least among us; those ‘Americans’ who would rather endlessly blast the President and the wars…oblivious to the fact that such mind-numbingly stupid criticism aids and abets the enemy.
No, JP, no photo op. But that should serve to shame anyone who spends all their free-time bashing George Bush
If they were able to understand that nuance.
That was 1200 soldiers; real, live, and in a war zone, re-enlisting because they love this country.
Times are hard. They’d be unemployed in the US
And they believe in what they are doing. And they believe in their commander-in-chief, President George Bush.
And I might add, re-enlistment guarantees a $15,000 tax free bonus…
Perhaps the fact that millions of men all over the country are not rushing to enlist, as they did for WWII, is an indication that by-and-large it is well understood that the invasion of Iraq is in actuality NOT a matter related to vital national interests. Americans have a good sense of when it is truly necessary to step up.
Of course, nothing is more disgusting when talking about a farce like the Iraq invasion than chest thumping chickenhawks.
I wish the soldiers that whose service has been abused under the Republican administration “god”speed in coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan after the election. Peace.
Yeah, they do it for money, William.
You project your own base-level existence on your betters. You who have done nothing for anybody, except what you must. There’s a world of difference between you and any one of those guys in that picture, or any one who’s served.
You aren’t smart enough to see the difference.
If you think they do it just for money, William…that says a lot about who and what you really are.
“Perhaps the fact that millions of men all over the country are not rushing to enlist, as they did for WWII, is an indication that by-and-large it is well understood that the invasion of Iraq is in actuality NOT a matter related to vital national interests.”
National interests, ROR? That’s your personal egocentric selfishness coming out. Purely a liberal thing, to want something for nothing, and give nothing unless you get something in return. You who deny Deity (and would deny Deity to anyone else, because your narcissism rebels against religion, because of that ‘religious morality’ you hate) also wants to define and limit America’s involvement anywhere to purely “National Interests”. Selfish. Pig.
But you’re always concerned about costs and payments over sacrifices and freedoms.
We gave the Iraqis the power to vote their own government, write their own constitution, and keep their oil revenues. We established the first Democracy in an Arab land. And removed their troublesome and murderous dictator in the process. There will be people who will thank us for that. Make sure you decline those thanks, ROR, as you fought the effort for the entire time.
You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
It’s interesting spin to focus on 1,200 who re-enlisted, while ignoring the record levels of attrition that the armed forces have been experiencing. Only hawkish conservatives could spin the lowest rate of re-enlistment in the history of the modern military into a positive.
Here’s some excellent milblog videos of these men and women…Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.
From the link…
Go watch those videos, William.
Feel the shame.
I’m not going to spend my time watching 1+ HOUR of BS on YouTube read by some whiny leftist.
All I heard was (paraphrasing, mind you), “Corporate media controls the information that goes to the Americans– therefore, Americans are brainwashed Righties!”
And I knew exactly what the next 1 hour would be.
I don’t need a cat cartoon to read Daily Kos to me. I can read it perfectly fine myself. Oh, and that video uses information that’s over a year old (because the video itself is over a year old– that’s just before the Surge was having its overall positive effects).
What I want to know is why a posting member of this website hasn’t revealed who the voice behind the cat is and forced her to take responsibility for her actions.
Whoa! Hold it. I’m wrong. That person JOINED YouTube 1 year ago. The whiny diatribe was posted July 5th, 2008. So, well after the Surge has been shown to be a greatly positive action.
Much better to spend time watching a couple of those vids from mudvillegazette.
Let JP watch the pink pussycats.
Dude,
It’s not a “whiney diatribe” read by “some leftist”.
It’s an intelligent assessment from an Iraqi professional with first hand experience of the occupation and a local perspective regarding the history of the region.
Of course, to you he is simply “the enemy” because he, along with the vast majority of Iraqis, wants the U.S out now.
Of course, what would non-whites do without the white man to introduce them to “democracy” and “civilization”? They might even learn to love jeebus if they will just stop resisting the occupation. It’s all for their own good, right?
Is he the talking cat? Because I could only take about 5 minutes of it before shutting it down.
CaptainBrainstorm:
So, well after the Surge has been shown to be a greatly positive action.
I’m sure I’ve discussed this with you before, but the “greatly positive” effects of the surge are grossly exaggerated, and are more than offset to the long term harm it’s doing to our armed forces. The extended deployments necessitated by the surge are one of the driving factors of our record attrition.
Deaths across Iraq have sharply fallen, and the Iraqi army is now conducting it’s own maneuvers. From where it was 2 years ago, this is now “greatly positive”.
I think you’ll discover that the US Armed Forces are still recruiting well, and will continue to do so, especially in lieu of a successful support operation in Iraq.
And we’ll find that these who are newly enlisting and re-upping are dedicated soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
We may see fewer enlistees who do so for social benefits…a la the Clinton Model.
Social gamesmanship has no place in the military.
Oh, while you’re surfing…a prayer for this young man.
