She says “goodbye,” and they say “Kelo”

I regret that I missed this post (not to mention the story) by The Blue Collar Muse, but Nashville is in the news!!! Yikes, it seems that Kelo has come to town. Here’s BCM’s follow up post on the issue.

Joy Ford’s fight with the MDHA (and Nashville government) is a stark reminder of (or lesson about) the difference between Liberalism/Statism and Conservatism. Do we believe in private property rights in our country anymore? I wonder how the “Conservative-leaning” SCOTUS would rule on this if they had another shot at it. Elections matter.

    Good post Ned.

Conservatives aren’t wrong about everything. I thought after the Kelo ruling the State leglislature was going to take some action to prevent this sort of nonsense in Tennessee.

Thanks, and I couldn’t agree with you more. ;)

And you remember correctly about the state taking action. Actually, the BCM post has some good links and references to analysis of the law that was passed in Tennessee after Kelo.

A bad SCOTUS decision, O’Connor was right on that one to dissent.

Was she the only justice who dissented? ;)

No, but usually she’s the swing

O’Conner was the worst Supreme Court Justice ever, Reagan’s worst mistake. His second worst mistake was Kennedy. Neither adhere(d) to any philosophy, but instead are all over the place.

Back to this post. This is THE MAIN REASON to vote for John McCain. Look at who ruled in the majority on that case. Sure McCain might give us a dud like Souter, but there is a much better chance that if he nominates two Judges, at least one will be a Constitutionalist. If Breyer and Ginsburg are what you want, then vote for the Democrat, who is conveniently suddenly sounding like a moderate. Moderate my ass. When it comes to judicial appointments, expect Obama to satisfy the kook base.

When it comes to judicial appointments, expect Obama to satisfy the kook base.

The Obama Court will make the Warren Court look conservative.

[…] I’m on a roll. After the Kelo-bashing post below which drew bi-partisan support, I thought I’d post about a movie I watched on Comcast […]
