Side effects of BDS
We have some dear friends that live in Tbilisi, Georgia, and we’re really concerned about what is happening over there. What should America do in the face of such aggression?
One unfortunate side effect of the Left’s radical, reckless rhetoric after 9/11 is showing up of late. As a result of the over-heated, irrational and partisan campaign waged against All Things Republican (or Anything Bush Touched), the President–and our country and our allies, are in a very difficult position in responding to the Russians’ veritable invasion of Georgia.
“Adults” are better at remembering who the real enemies are in the world. But hey, maybe this election they will finally beat Bush.
Also at WisdomisVindicated.
the Left’s radical, reckless rhetoric
That makes no sense at all.
You’re saying if everyone in the U.S. were gobbling Bush’s knob as eagerly as you do, there would be some easy, obvious course of action for the U.S. to take in the Russian/Georgian conflict?
Mmmmm… yeah.
.
. . . gobbling Bush’s knob . . .
Wow, JP, do you have to work hard at thinking of such word pictures?
But, of course it doesn’t make sense to you.
And I didn’t say there was an “easy, obvious course of action.” There rarely is, unless the person proposing said course is a Democrat candidate for something.
I’m not sure what your point is supposed to be. Seriously. If anything, the mess Bush & Co created in Iraq has made us less influential in international affairs, and thus less able to do anything at all about what’s happening in Georgia, even if you were to set aside the fact that the troops are bogged down there.
By the way, it wasn’t some “radical liberal” who looked into Putin’s soul and saw a good man…
Keep reading it and you’ll figure it out.
PRESIDENT BUSH: I will answer the question. I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country. And I appreciated so very much the frank dialogue.
Yeah, that’s our cowboy diplomat, dividing not uniting, earning the spite of all the world.
But, of course it doesn’t make sense to you.
That often happens when someone starts out with a premise trying to draw to a conclusion, without tying the latter to the former.

Oh so it’s “the Left’s rhetoric that has caused widespread hate and fear of the aggression and arrogance forwarded by the Bush administration? It’s “the Left’s” fault that Bush is viewed by our closest allies as being a threat to world peace? WTF is wrong with you? Do you have so little integrity that you have to flail against “the Left” for the results of the disasterous Bush foreign policy? You’re pathetic.
Oh I forgot…
Admit nothing,
Deny everything.
Blame the Democrats.
We didn’t seem to have many problems with cooperation of allies during the Clinton administration, or even during Bush 41. So, the present problems with international reputation and support has nothing at all to do with policy?? … it’s all because of the Left’s radical, reckless rhetoric after 9/11 ?/ Despicable, delusional, and authoritarian to the core.
“we live in an interdependent world in which we cannot possibly kill, jail or occupy all of our potential adversaries. So we have to both fight terror and build a world with more partners and fewer terrorists.”
– Bill Clinton
Yep; what business does a warmongering war criminal have threatening Russia about invading Georgia?
Aside, I know you’re new to paying attention to politics, William, but it is always ironic to me that you say (did you copy that from some Lefty website?):
Admit nothing,
Deny everything.
Blame the Democrats.
Democrats INVENTED and certainly refined that tactic.
Hey Dems, good luck in this next election against demon Dubya.
I reckon nedwilliams is content to leave y’all here with a bread sandwich.

2nd piece of bread: the President–and our country and our allies, are in a very difficult position in responding to the Russians’ veritable invasion of Georgia

Democrats need only look to Russia and China to see true aggression and arrogance. Demonizing President Bush for 7 years likely contributed to thetiming of this invasion, and only portends more and more aggression by Russia, Iran, Korea, China, Venezuela…any country that understands our leftist party.
As Childe Obama butterflies his way towards office, you can bet Chavez, Dinnerjacket, jong Il, Putin, and a host of real baddies are looking forward to our Democrat-weakened foreign policy. Democrats need to look in a mirror to see what the world recognizes: weak, soft foreign policy, and that sign taped to their foreheads saying “punch me, I’m easy”.
Well, we at least won’t have to worry about Kenya, I suppose. 51st State, probably.

I don’t know what you mean. Care to cite some examples?

Hey chump … when did Russia discontinue their bomber patrols? When Clinton became president. When did Russia start them again? After Bush launched a war. Funny to see relations with all of the above countries have turned south under the present administration, not to mention the worst attack we’ve ever had. Where’s your credibility? Gone… zilch, failed … game over.
Nasty namecalling on liberal blogs clearly had a larger effect on Russia’s actions than the 5 year quagmire of Iraq. That makes sense.

As we’ve seen in psychological studies, Ned Williams suffers from classic conservative “standard persistent response syndrome,” (blame the left, blame Clinton, yell BDS…etc). We’ve covered this before - I even made a case study of Ned William previously… check it out.
Case in point:
The American Bar Association’s Blue Ribbon Task Force was formed with a cast of legal all-stars from BOTH political parties to investigate the Bush abuse of powers. This ABA task force described the Bush use of signing statements to modify the meaning of duly enacted laws as: “contrary to the rule of law and our constitutional system of separation of powers”.
Ned’s response:
“…you ought to realize that lining up a bunch of Liberal attorneys on a given legal position doesn’t prove much of anything–except perhaps a serious case of BDS. “
And law is Ned’s supposed area of expertise. This should tell us something.
And psychology is your area of expertise . . .
And geo-politics, too, I guess. Russia circa January 1993 is relevant to today, how? And thanks for the utopic reminder that Clinton and his policies would have prevented 9/11.
Merely “nasty namecalling on liberal blogs”? (btw, thanks for using the term quagmire–it makes my job easier). Haven’t you heard? Everybody, and I mean EVERYbody–but the 20-something percent of us who worship Dubya, realize that Bush is a war criminal and will, and I mean WILL, swing from a noose for his atrocities.
