If John McCain screws up one.more.time., in this context selecting a Democrat or a pro-choice (essentially the same animal) baby-killing Vice President, this race will be basically over for me.
Not that I would stop opposing Obama. I can oppose that skinny freak from Chicago and still vote a write-in candidate or that other guy (Bob Barr, anyone?)
But John McCain is stubborn, and loves him some Democrats. He might pick Lieberman or Tom Ridge.

If they do that, if the McCain camp does that, they will have effectively destroyed the Republican Party and pushed the conservative movement into the bleachers — and there are a lot of people who believe that’s been the aim of the Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party for many years. We’re committing suicide in the midst of two events that could launch the party to sweeping victory in November!
One: the energy and gasoline price debate — and the Democrats are nervous on that. They’re starting to abandon Pelosi on it. We own that issue, if played right. Two: McCain’s performance Saturday night with Rick Warren out there at the Saddlesore Church . One wrong selection as vice president can wipe all that out because everything that McCain said Saturday night… The reason he’s getting such rave reviews is why? ‘Cause he was a conservative! McCain’s conservatism — sometimes hidden — surfaced loudly, proudly, and valorously Saturday night. It could be undone by choosing a liberal, Democrat pro-choice or a liberal Republican.

I visited BCR just now. Why do you even have the ‘R’ in your blog title I wonder? Blue and Republican those colors are like looking at an American flag upside down or something; and that line ‘chicken GOP borg’ makes me wonder if you are some sort of fakir.
I’m not collared to any particular candidate or party. I support those principles that are conservative, and expect the Republican party to meet my expectations. Or I will not support them, monetarily or with my vote. I’ve shut down my contributions this year (much to their consternation) and if McCain screws up this VP selection, then that’s that.
But tonight there’s indications he is moving in the ‘right’ direction. I will support McCain/Romney.

serr8d, not doubting that you are conservative. but as a conservative how can you vote for mccain? have you seen his voting record? what is your breaking point with mccain? will it be his vp choice? what if his vp is ok, will you ignore his other non-conservative positions?
The McCain choice would be problematic for me. You may or may not know that I supported Fred Thompson for the nomination. It seems that McCain came out of nowhere to secure the Republican nomination (with a little help from the Main Stream Media; even the NYT had some love for McCain, until the Messiah came up).
I will have to support McCain if: (1) he does not screw up and choose an unsuitable candidate for VP and (2) he does not screw up and say or do something totally left-wing.
My dream choice for R-VP? Probably not going to happen, but here you go.

Mickey, I feel your pain. We, the U.S., will elect a president in November. Definitely won’t be a very good one, but there you go.
Your (my) choices are, to publicly support the weak Republican candidate, then vote for Barr or a write-in; to publicly support the weak (R) candidate and actually vote for him; or to switch gears and support the Messiah, hoping that if he wins, the resulting internal fights amongst Republicans will drive the less-than-perfect RINO’s from our midst.
Really, my vote in Tennessee doesn’t matter. McCain has a 15-point advantage here. Obonga can’t win Tennessee.
So, I’m sort of hanging loose, waiting for the next Obama-McCain flaw to expose. And anxiously awaiting whatever show the Dems have for us next week.
I really would enjoy seeing some sort of implosion.
