William Ayers’ PRAIRIE FIRE: As Obama’s muse, do Ayers’ “Mistakes of the past” matter?

Yesterday, more than 3,000 U.S. educators and professors signed a statement in support of ‘Billy’ Ayers…

Ayers, now a distinguished professor of education and senior university scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was a co-founding member of the radical activist group the Weather Underground in 1969. The group’s extreme tactics to end the Vietnam War included planting bombs in the Pentagon and the United States Capitol.

In response to the McCain campaign’s focus on Ayers’ radical acts of the 1960s and 1970s, “Friends and supporters of Bill Ayers” are circulating a statement online to vouch for the professor he has become.

“I think he’s doing a lot of positive, progressive, constructive work right now,” said Brown University English professor William Keach, the first member of the university’s faculty to sign the statement of support. Keach was referring to Ayers’s work in the field of education.

Note the current ‘escape clause’ written into CNN’s news release: “The group’s extreme tactics to end the Vietnam War…”

But was ending the Vietnam war the primary focus of the Weather Underground? Not so much.

Zombie has unearthed a largely-forgotten manifesto, Prarie Fire, written and published by Weather Underground members Bernadine Dohrn, Jeff Jones, ‘Billy’ Ayers, and Celia Sojourn.

Zombie’s essay includes high-resolution scans and some analysis of Prairie Fire, providing proof positive that ‘Billy’ Ayers was not ‘just protesting the Vietnam War’ as these duped and forgiving leftist professors and educators would like us to believe, but was actively seeking the violent overthrow of the United States of America. From Zombie’s must-read post, these snips from Ayers’ Prairie Fire

Revolutionary war will be complicated and protracted. It includes mass struggle and clandestine struggle, peaceful and violent, political and economic, cultural and military, where all forms are developed in harmony with the armed struggle.
Without mass struggle there can be no revolution.
Without armed struggle there can be no victory.

The unique and fundamental condition of this time is the decline of U.S. imperialism. Our society is in social and economic crisis and assumptions about the U.S. are turned on their heads. These are hard conditions to live through. But they are favorable for the people and for revolution.
These conditions of constant change demand the weapon of theory. Like people everywhere, we are analyzing how to bring to life the potential forces which can destroy U.S. imperialism.

We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States for more than four years. We are deeply affected by the historic events of our time in the struggle against U.S. imperialism.

Our intention is to disrupt the empire, to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks, to make it hard to carry out its bloody functioning against the people of the world, to join the world struggle, to attack from the inside.
Our intention is to engage the enemy, to wear away at him, to harass him, to isolate him, to expose every weakness, to pounce, to reveal his vulnerability.
Our intention is to encourage the people, to provoke leaps in confidence and consciousness, to stir the imagination, to popularize power, to agitate, to organize, to join in every way possible the people’s day-to-day struggles.
Our intention is to forge an underground, a clandestine political organization engaged in every form of struggle, protected from the eyes and weapons of the state, a base against repression, to accumulate lessons, experience and constant practice, a base from which to attack.

THE BANNER OF CHE

The only path to the final defeat of imperialism and the building of socialism is revolutionary war. Revolution is the most powerful resource of the people. To wait, to not prepare people for the fight, is to seriously mislead about what kind of fierce struggle lies ahead.

In Prairie Fire, Ayers avows his communism, defines his personal views of ’socialism’, and brags about Weather Underground’s bombings, those hateful, cowardly, terrorist attacks on civilians and police.

Ayers and his group of nascent ‘professors’ were actively bombing the United States of America when John McCain was prisoner of war in North Vietnam.

Ayers is a close associate of Barack Hussein Obama, and however Ayers’ phraseology is toned down a bit, he still is extremely politically radical (by his own admission) and now is the darling of elite professors and educators and politicians who are rushing to his defense.

However well-couched and disguised his political views are now, he is still a political radical who has no reason to be anywhere near our children. And that included Barack Hussein Obama.

What were Obama’s thoughts and predispositions, that directed him to cling to Ayers and his political viewpoints? Can we trust Obama, given his current ’spread the wealth’ sorts of avowed socialism? Ayers’ definition of socialism…

Socialism is the total opposite of capitalism/imperialism. It is the rejection of empire and white supremacy. Socialism is the violent overthrow of the bourgeoisie, the establishment of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and the eradication of the social system based on profit. Socialism means control of the productive forces for the good of the whole community instead of the few who live on hilltops and in mansions. Socialism means priorities based on human need instead of corporate greed. Socialism creates the conditions for a decent and creative quality of life for all.

“Quality of life”.

Just how many degrees of separation are there between Ayers and Obama? Not enough. Not enough to trust BHO as leader of the United States of America, nor enough to believe and trust William Ayers as a protected professor in charge of anyone’s children.

“My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you’ll join with me as we try to change it.”

Barack Obama

says more about the socialist educators than anything else.

How smart would Obama have had to be to discern ‘Billy’ Ayers political bent?

Surely a Harvard-educated professor could tell that he was being programmed.

The senator also touts an idea he pressed, a version of which was included in the Senate bill to renew the Higher Education Act, that would put more emphasis on providing mentors to new teachers as a way to improve their training.

    and

Let’s first look at Obama’s education track record. It’s his exalted 7-year stint to reform Chicago schools as chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) with “distinguished scholar” and unrepentant terrorist William Ayers that according to CAC’s records showed no academic achievement.

So far, Obama shows no sign of distress or contrition over CAC’s alarming outcome; nor has he explained why CAC funneled over U.S. $100 million to radical organizations in line with Ayer’s political ideology, including “to education programs built around the same extremist anti-American ideology preached by [Obama’s former pastor] Reverend Wright.”

This ideological alliance was fomented during Ayer’s Weatherman days where cop killers were hailed as freedom fighters and radical cohorts were encouraged to recruit students, “bring the revolution home” and “kill your parents.”

Since Obama’s CAC days with Ayers, he’s set his sights higher. As Senator he can introduce legislation, amend existing laws, and tap into America’s U.S. $58 billion coffer, according to the U.S. Department of Education’s latest budget figures, to fund his policies–and he already has.

No similarities, there, between Obama and Ayers.

Nice choice for president, really. Ayers, that is.

The simple fact that the media isn’t talking about this and only parrots Obama’s “I was eight years old” line is that they are completely in the tank for him. Even Dan Rather said so the other day on Scarborough. Google it. He even said the media still doesn’t understand the power of the Internet. Kudos to Dan Rather!

The disgusting fact is that almost nobody cares about this at all. Howard Stern’s expose of Harlem voters supporting Obama because he is “pro-life” and “wants to keep the troops in Iraq” is proof that it doesn’t matter that you point out that Obama is a socialist, and that as an *adult* he chose to associate with other radical socialists.

Besides, calling him socialist is a racist code word. Calling Ayers a communist guerilla terrorist is racist against Obama. Saying Obama breathes oxygen is racist.

I just wish that we had focused more attention on gaining ground in the Senate at a minimum to act as a check. Too late.

The disgusting fact is that almost nobody cares about this at all.

The delightful thing about this is that the GOP attacks are getting more strange, fearful and desperate. You need to look no further than the Palin’s Alaska Independence Party for anti American activities. You need to look no further than Alaska to find socialism and redistribution of wealth with the oil revenues.

The truth is, wee willie, only persons in your coven don’t care about BO’s associates. BTW, what animals do you sacrifice and what direction do you face when you worship BO?

  6. William, 23. October 2008, 13:04

I’m not involved in animal killing, like Palin and hers.

    Not a poll-watcher, I see.

William, I don’t believe any bombs were set by any ‘Alaskan Anarchist’ party. The only bombs that went off (one in the Pentagon, no less! an attack sorta like those other terrorists made on 9/11! except Ayers and his crew were too much cowards to suicide!) were those set by your candidate Baracky’s buddy’s Weather Underground.

But all of that is for you excused, because the Obamessiah’s grip on your microencephalic braincase is so strong and so hate-filled there’s no more room for any serious cognitive functions.

You should really lose a few of those sour chords, ‘Billy’, and try to understand what’s going to happen to your country.

You won’t like so much, or your role in it. You’ll be superfluous. Single-minded guitarists aren’t so much useful, in a sO!cialist economy.

odd that the names are in a different type set than the rest of this book Prarie Fire. So rare another can’t be found so who is it to say those names were not typed in?

  11. Serr8d, 31. October 2008, 22:53

Odd that no one has come forward to denounce it (Ayers, Dohrn, or their lawyers) isn’t it?

Ayers has admitted his roles. Dohrn as well. Listen for yourself.
