A year of recession - the Bush legacy

The Bush presidency ends with a year of the US officially in recession.

This will put to rest any silly claims that the US is not in a recession,  It has now been officially confirmed by the National Bureau of Economic Research that the US has been in a recession since Dec. ‘07.

Story at CNN:

The current recession is one of the longest downturns since the Great Depression of the 1930’s.

The last two recessions (1990-1991 and 2001) lasted eight months each, and only two of the 10 previous post-Depression downturns lasted as long as a full year, according to the NBER.

The Bush legacy.

William, when or if the economy is reported to contract this quarter, then we will be in a recession. A recession is two or more quarters of negative economic growth. We just had one. We may be in another. I could give a rats ass what you copy and paste. Words have meanings and we have not been in a recession since 2007, you dumbass.

Btw, do you have anything, I mean anything to write about besides George Bush? Seriously, is BDS it for you?

Glen, I think you need to take it up with the NBER. Or maybe read what they had to say about it, at any rate.

Prior to the last quarter where there was a contraction, the economy grew over 3%. What the absolute hell! Idiots.

According to Keynes, the root cause of an economic downturns is an insufficient aggregate demand. When the total demand for goods and services declines, businesses throughout the economy see their sales fall off. Lower sales induce firms to cut back production and to lay off workers. Rising unemployment and declining profits further depress demand, leading to a feedback loop with a very unhappy ending.

Remember what I said about conservatives and denial?

The Democrats control congress, and all bill of $$$ must originate in the House.
    Blame THEM!

Dick Cheney, al-CIAda and their ilk control congress. Duh.

Ask Paul Wellstone. Or Nancy Pelosi.

Full employment is between 4 and 6 percent. What is it now, 6.5? Holiday shopping is up 40% from last year. I really don’t know what to say. When or if the economy contracts this quarter, I will write a post in big bold letters about the recession. But as of now, one hasn’t happened yet.

Its like this though. If government keeps meddling with the economy, we are in for a long period of stagflation, speaking of Keynes, who was wrong on more than a few things.

That would require paying attention to what you said.

    Bwa hahahahaha~!

That freak lives to bash Bush. There is nothing more.

I expect him to dry up and blow away after Obama takes office, with an occasional Bush bash welling up at unexpected intervals.

Otherwise, he has only his guitar to pick on..that, and his nose.

OH, and there’s a call to kill the CRA. Finally, a step forward. Bush should’ve called for that years ago. But, he was a ‘compassionate conservative’, and allowed the left to have their toys. That’s the one fault I’ll point out in President Bush. Otherwise, he did keep us safe for 7.5 years.

    Obama’s watch starts January 20.

I’m counting on you continuing to NOT pay attention.

Never mind that we’re telling you that the cause of your headache is the fact that you insist on hitting yourself in the head with a hammer once a day. Just keep hitting yourself in the head with that hammer, pal.

Riiiight, the CRA is responsible for the “financial crisis”.

The Japanese carry trade had nothing to do with it. Nothing to see here folks, move along. Go watch football.

The “government” is not “meddling in the economy”. They are looting the American people.

They are traitors against the American people, most of them anyway.
Almost everything they have to say about “foreign policy” or “the economy” is a lie. They should be under arrest, not in control of the world’s most powerful military.

The nation is on the verge of bankrupcy. The status quo simply can not continue, no matter how many Chinese made “God bless our troops” magnets and “power of pride” bumper stickers we flaunt.

    Serr8d,

Yes, we know there is most likely going to be another “terrorist” attack on the U.S. George Bush warned us that he and his ilk never stop thinking of ways to harm the American people.

We can’t have Obama getting any crazy thoughts like actually upholding his oath of office, he would surly end up like us.

Gosh. On one hand, I have a Nobel laureate, telling me the government needs to spend like a mothraflocker. On the other, I have a guy who changed careers to go into real estate right before the real estate bubble burst.

Who’s advice am I gonna go with, here?

Hmmm, could it be that the truth lies elsewhere?

Economics isn’t rocket science. In fact, it’s not even science at at all, but’s that’s a “dirty little secret”.

So called “experts” like your “Nobel laureate” are often wrong.

The problem is pretty simple. The U.S. is bankrupt, and criminals are looting the place before they set it on fire and claim the insurance money. The United States is just like that bar in goodfellas that the mob took over.

We can either restructure ourselves or have it done for us by our creditors, who would love to see us all groveling for jobs that pay pennies on the hour while scrounging for scrap in order to build our new lodgings.

When governments need to capitalize banks, people need to be arrested. The only time this doesn’t happen is when criminals are running the government.

If we restructure ourselves the first step is to arrest Bush, Cheney, Paulson and Bernanke, et.al., abolish the CIA, end the imperialist wars, balance the budget and trade, and roll back the “American dream” to being grateful for basic liberty and necessities, not a gluttonous global empire going ever into ruinous debt sucking up stupid, goofy imported goods.

History is cocked full of ruined empires that looked almost exactly like the U.S. does right now just before the deluge. Does anyone see a deluge coming?

Right now, Obama is preparing to reinforce the status quo because that is what his bosses (hint: that ain’t us) want. Just read the latest drivel from the Brookings Institute, another parasitic think tank.

Here is a great quote from a commenter on a serious blog:

People have been told that we are no longer able to compete because those in other nations will work for less pay and fewer benefits.
    _

I contend that we can compete - and we can prosper - if we get rid of the oppressive overhead that contributes nothing but takes the greater share.

The American people should know that George W. Bush is not only a war criminal: he is also a hate-crime criminal.

George W. Bush had better stop committing hate crimes.
