Politics for the Holidays…

From the Miami Herald, h/t Hot Air. Ed Morrissey…
Let’s get this straight. The Left shrugged at Obama’s twenty years of alliance with a minister who spouted an infamous “God Damn America”. They sniffed when Jeremiah Wright called 9/11 “America’s chickens coming home to roost”. They may have even nodded their heads in agreement when the pastor to whom Obama gave over $20,000 in 2006 accused the US government of creating the HIV virus and AIDS as a genocidal tool against people of color. However, Rick Warren offers public support for a California proposition that keeps marriage defined as his faith prescribes, and suddenly Obama has betrayed their trust. Really?
Teh hypocrisy, it burns.
Mark Steyn on “An Obamafied American Idol Christmas”,(h/t B Moe @ PW’s Pub)…
“Retail Sales Plummet,” read the Christmas headline in the Wall Street Journal. “Sales plunged across most categories on shrinking consumer spending.”Hey, that’s great news, isn’t it? After all, everyone knows Americans consume too much. What was it that then Senator Obama said on the subject? “We can’t just keep driving our SUVs, eating whatever we want, keeping our homes at 72 degrees at all times regardless of whether we live in the tundra or the desert and keep consuming 25 percent of the world’s resources with just 4 percent of the world’s population, and expect the rest of the world to say you just go ahead, we’ll be fine.”
And boy, we took the great man’s words to heart. SUV sales have nosedived, and 72 is no longer your home’s thermostat setting but its current value expressed as a percentage of what you paid for it. If I understand then Senator Obama’s logic, in a just world Americans would be 4 percent of the population and consume a fair and reasonable 4 percent of the world’s resources. And in these last few months we’ve made an excellent start toward that blessed utopia: Americans are driving smaller cars, buying smaller homes, giving smaller Christmas presents.
That explains the heaping helpings of coal in my stocking, eh? )
Finally, the biggest issue: “Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose [Darleen Click]“: the One’s self-whitewashing over his and his staff’s involvement with Blago..
If PE Obama is going to learn anything from the L’affaire Blago is that He needs to stop the Marie Antoinette impressions and live up to the transparency and ethics He’s promised for two years but has woefully demonstrated. And if The One feels a making public a five-page self-examination will be acceptable to anyone other than His cult followers then He is not reading the reviews.
From the comments there:

Blagojevich’s Lawyers Want Obama Aides To Testify
Sources tell CBS station WBBM-TV that a letter sent by Blagojevich’s lawyers to committee chairman, State Rep. Barbara Currie, asks that the committee subpoena Obama’s chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, senior adviser Valerie Jarrett and Jackson.
Obama’s “lawyered-up” self-analysis..
Greg Craig, the incoming White House Counsel, conducted his inquiry by taking questions to each transition staff member’s lawyer. The lawyers then went to the staff members and collected the answers. The lawyers then gave the answers to Craig. In some cases — team Obama won’t say how many — Craig would go back to either the staff member’s attorney or the staff member directly for clarification. But it appears Craig’s direct questioning of staff was very limited.
Additionally, there was no independent effort to verify any of the information provided by the staff member or the staff member’s attorney. If, for example, a staff member’s attorney said there was no e-mail or text messaging with Blagojevich or his staff, Craig took that at face value. No one knows if there was any e-mailing or texting, by the way.
Popcorn, please!
Great!
The Rick Warren thang seems a sure win-win, for me.
It pleases the knuckleheads like Rusty, ’cause he thinks it pisses off liberals (and it does, quite a few), ’cause that’s the knuckelhead version of True Conservatism.
It also has already caused Warren to have removed language from his church website about not accepting gays in his congregation. That’s unlikely to have caused his policy to change, so the bigotry has moved to stealth-mode. He has every right to exclude gays from his church, though. I personally think this excludes very few, since no gay person I know goes to a big-box church like Warren’s, anyway.
But one thing is sure: The discussion is alive, and fueled by the invitation.

Heh. Bwarney Fwank’s disappointed..
That pole-dancer needs to be in jail, for what he did re: Fannie/Freddie. I’d enjoy watching BF flounce his prissy self in front of a microphone denouncing The One, but I can’t find the video.
