Obama starts to unravel; personally attacks Rush Limbaugh
I’m reading Allahpundit’s HotAir post right now; it seems Obama has instructed Republicans to STFD and STFU. Well, not in those exact words. Instead,Obama does what no president should do - he childlishly attacks a private citizen. Obama tells some selected GOPers…
WASHINGTON — President Obama warned Republicans on Capitol Hill today that they need to quit listening to radio king Rush Limbaugh if they want to get along with Democrats and the new administration.
“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.
It’s bad enough that the GOP is a group of frightened ducklings right now, quaking and quivering before His Almighty O!neness. It’s enough that Obama wants to have a single-party, unquestioned rule. And it’s quite ENOUGH! that our fearful Republican ‘leaders’ are bending over and grabbing ankles, in an effort to accrue favor in the spirit of ‘bipartisanship’. Why do we have to have Rush Limbaugh speak for those of us who would otherwise be voiceless?
Rush Limbaugh responds to Obama’s weekend remarks, saying what Republican leaders should be saying…
“Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing “eternal” power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.”
Are the Republicans so cowed that they cannot speak out? Has Obama touched them, and struck them dumb? Why do we have to have an entertainer, a guy who has a radio show, speak for us? Is Rush the only man left standing between Obama and his desire to RULE?
My comment at HotAir..
Obama is desirous to do away with the two-party system of government, obviously. He’s almost there, given that the spineless Republicans now seem to be cowering like jelly before Teh One!.McCain is no longer ours, if he ever was. McCain came back arguing for Hillary and for ‘bipartisanship’ (defined now as ‘Democrats Rule, the rest of you STFU and STFD’). If McCain is the defacto opposition leader, then this nation truly is doomed.
Rush represents the embodiment of the only real opposition to Obama’s socialism and the left’s ultimate success. That’s a great burden placed on such a small individual.
Tell me where Obama gets a pass by attacking a private citizen.
What’s next? Will Obama have Rush arrested and thrown in detention?
Buck Farack.
It has always amazed me at how much Rush Limbaugh, the host of a three hour a day radio talk show, brings so much ire from the left. I mean, the guy is just a talk show host. He isn’t an office holder. He has no political power. Yet they are obsessed with him. The man is a private citizen being attacked by government officials. Surely, this has belittled the messiah, in the eyes of his flock.
In the eyes of His flock, He can do no wrong.
I’ve never seen such ululation and adulation for a mere man, in my life. And the fact that he is the leader of the free world?
WTF have
wethey done?WTF, at least El Rushbo is constitutionally qualified to be President!
I think it is bad for him really. There is no way that he can measure up to expectations, whatever they are (pay my mortgage, car payment, etc.). Honestly, I don’t think there is anything he can do that will leave people happy and satisfied in four years. I almost feel sorry for him.
Nah!
Notice at the end of Rush’s letter to Byron York, Rush reminds York of Rule 13 of Alinksy’s Rules for Radicals, “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
The guy (Limbaugh) is good. Maybe that’s why they are so afraid of him, because they respect him so much.
Yeah good for Rush, bringing up Alisnky, especially with Obama pallin’ around with terrorists, Take Two (signing Gitmo out of existence, and getting Khalid Sheikh Mohammed off the hook).
I don’t get to listen to Rush very much. But when he’s on, he’s brilliant.
Unraveled? Anything but. You won’t find this calm intelligent guy Obama unraveling. Get a clue, we have a smart person running the country now. Get it?
Like he said when he reversed the Bush abortion funding policy, “”I have no desire to continue this stale and fruitless debate.”
So forget it.
You have a choice. You can come on board as an American or you can engage in fruitless debate like the ankle-biter Limbaugh - who is irrelevant to all, except you tiny faction of fellow treasonous ankle-biters. How’s it feel to be so irrelevant?
Tell me where Obama gets a pass by attacking a private citizen.
What’s next? Will Obama have Rush arrested and thrown in detention?
Really?
How willfully stupid does one have to be to so badly misunderstand eleven words?
That was an attack?
Here’s an attack: Just this week, Limbaugh himself did what he’s accused liberals of since at least 2004, and he didn’t mince words. He’s a conservative first; not an American. Party and ideology over country.
If Limbaugh really wants to clean up, he’ll start selling fainting couches. It sounds like y’all could every last one use one.
.
What an incredibly stupid thing to say. Limbaugh is irrelevant, yet he gets mentioned by the President of the United States. I wish this website was as “irrelevant” as Limbaugh. If so I’d be rich.
Do you know how Republicans lost power in 2006 and 2008.
They just listened to Limbaugh.
.
JP, the fact is, they didn’t listen to Limbaugh. Do you think Limbaugh chose John McCain? No, the Republicans listened to the fake conservatives, the ones who believed Reaganism was no longer relevant. As for the losses in 2006, again, that was because Congress spent like Democrats. No they haven’t listened to Limbaugh in a long time.
HAHAHA Ronald Reagan
Geln (my homage to Rahm, btw), I had hoped my italics would have clued you in.
Whatever that minority of brilliant conservatives whose ideas resonate with 50% +1 of the electorate did in 2006 and 2008, it didn’t work. You can’t just do [what you did], and get things done.
.
JTF, all spending bills originate in the House of Representatives. The House was run by Democrats in the eighties. Reagan pushed military spending increases, but his budget cutting plans were DOA. He did manage to cut taxes, but to get enough Democrats on board to do so, he had to make concessions.
Bush on the other hand, had a Republican Congress. Bush has no excuse whatsoever for not providing conservative leadership.
Nice of Reagan to take away the cause of so many years of spending — the USSR. Ronald Reagan broke the Soviet Union; they collapsed trying to keep up.
As far as O! maintaining his approval rating, better look again. He’s made 15 controversial policy decisions that aren’t going unnoticed..except by the lefty koolaid slurpers.
Hey, not even a week! You boys will need to work overtime to defend this rube.
Watch it unfold before your very eyes: the Failed Obama Presidency.
Heh. After all the race bating, slander, and back-handed insults that Rush regularly engages in, I’d think you would know how to actually tell what is an attack and what is a statement about how someone conducts themselves. Rush is all about being partisan and advancing a specific ideology. Regardless of if you think he’s right or wrong, a minority party won’t get much accomplished if they don’t work with the majority party. If the Republicans want to actually help to positively shape legislation then they will have to work with the Democrats, and Rush isn’t so big on that.
On the other hand, if the Republicans are going to be playing the role of an Opposition party until 2010, then Rush and the other members of the echo chamber are a great person to listen too. I personally think that gumming the works up in the midst of one of the greatest financial crisis’s America has ever seen is a pretty dumb idea, but then again I disagree with many of the decisions the Republican party has made.
Serr8d, Bush lied about the black sites, and established two or more prisons that have tortured inmates. I am glad they are closed. I would rather loose my life than my honor and my soul.
The opposite seemed to work pretty good for the Democrats when they were the minority party. I mean, they basically were the obstruction party. They even opposed a war simply for the sake of opposing the majority. It seemed to serve them quite well.
I mean, they basically were the obstruction party.
What’d they stop? The looting of the Social Security trust?
.
Maybe you should revisit the Daniel Pearl execution video, and remember exactly what sort of people we are at war with. al Qaeda is relentless in their quest to kill those who represent the Great Satan, and whether you like it or not, that’s you, me, Obama, Hillary, and everyone else you’ve probably ever met or are related to. Sorry if a bit of water submersion is enough to warrant a charge of ‘torture’ in your mind - it’s not so much; I’ve been upside down in a kayak enough to know what water panic is, and it’s nothing like cutting or burning flesh, or removing fingernails or breaking bones, which is more like the torture al Qaeda gives up.
And, yes, Rush represents true, legal, loyal opposition. Did you not read his response to BHO at NRO?
So, BHO, instead of calling out Rush, a private citizen who has a successful radio talk business, and telling the GOP they had better STFU and go along with your awful plan without debate, you should ready yourself for something you’ve never experienced in your life: OPPOSITION that you can’t silence. Your days of whiny rhetoric are coming to an end. Time to put on the big-boy pants and do what you were elected to do. And, Grow Up!
Sorry, the unicorn ride is over.
Check out this chart. BIG Inflation is on the way!
And, who’s laughing at Peter Schiff now?
[…] above quote is from Peter Schiff, the economist Serr8d referenced in a comment to this post. Remember those words. Say them over and over […]
The democrats make a horrid opposition party. No fucking spine when it comes to poltical fights, though I’m hoping obama can fix that. Even if we go with the idea that they were an opposition party, it’s not the opposition that won the election for them, it was the fact that the republicans have driven the country during their tenure the past 8 years.
Beyond that, even if it WERE the opposition that won the elections for them.. That does not mean they got anything done by being opposition, besides scoring some political points. Point still stands. Opposition parties don’t get much done, though they may keep bad things from happening. If you seem to think that everything President Obama wants to do is bad, then you are perfectly justified in calling on the Republicans to act as such. That still won’t change the fact they won’t get anything done in that manner.
Again, the pentagon has ruled that we are torturing people in Gitmo. It’s not just my viewpoint. Beyond that, comparing being upended in a kayak to water boarding is a really poor comparison. I know who attacked the US, I watched it the same way that you did. But that doesn’t mean we should engage in dishonorable and illegal treatment of prisoners. Doing so only weakens our moral position, and sends more people to their cause. All of those cries of “Support the Troops! Don’t say anything bad about the war!” are focusing on the wrong thing. We should be supporting the troops by honoring the Country and the Ideals they risk and give their lives for.
As too rush… read my response to a Glen. If you think the market will correct itself and we’ll just have a little recession and get over it, by all means, don’t work with him. I’m not calling for unity, but if that doesn’t work, sorry, you don’t get to blame it on inaction by the Democrats.
Lawful at the time.
Al Qahtani? He lived. He wouldn’t have lived if he had been on a jetliner on 9/11.
Let him go back to Saudi Arabia. I’m anxious to see how they would receive him.
There are many things that are lawful that will make worse enemies of those who may be on the fence about you, and there are many things that are lawful that are still dishonorable and violate the freedom that the US supposedly stands for.
