Earth Hour Saturday Night

March 27th, 2009 . by glendean

Earth Hour is tomorrow night. Earth Hour is for those of you who are stupid enough to think that humans are destroying the planet, and that turning off your lights for an hour on Saturday night will “make a difference”.

What better way to celebrate this anti-capitalist religion than by living an hour without electricity, the engine of prosperity. After all, economic prosperity is bad for the environment, at least according to this amazingly honest wackjob.

So how I am I planning to participate in this nonsense? Well of course I am going to run the washer, dryer, and dishwasher. I plan on turning on all lamps, overhead lights, flood lights, porch lights, and I’ll probably even run the ole box fan, in spite of the fact that my AC will also be on. I’ll even crank up both vehicles and probably sit and rev up the one that smokes. Hell I might even eat some butter-beans and leave my own little personal carbon footprint.

Why you might ask? Because I am grateful for all of the blessings that make our lives easier, much easier than at any time in the history of this world, and I don’t like being lectured by a bunch of smug limousine liberals pushing a socialist hoax.

What better way to end this glorious rant, than with a little wisdom from the late George Carlin.

Wow. Glen Dean, voluntarily paying more taxes, burning gasoline needlessly.

    That’s going… going… Galt!

This kind of protest causes more problems than most people know. Our power grid is not setup to handle this type of power reduction. This wastes money if people actually did it.

But no worries, who will do it?

JTF — Why not just let this place degenerate into the right wing echo chamber that it so desperately wants to be?

JP, I don’t want this to be all right wingers. The libs are invited, but they won’t come. Most either don’t like, or are not smart enough to debate. To Tgirsch’s credit, he does.

Serr8d, seriously let ‘em be heard. It’s best anyway.

It came and went. No one within eyesight cared. Even the guy with the Obama sign left his lights on.

Like JP likes to say, Epic Fail.

Yeah — that must be it.

Surely, no one comes here and sees poop-flinging, and either flings poop back, or decides they’re really not interested in a poop-flinging contest.

On a place where William was a star you get comments deleted? What kind of crap are you writing?

The comment JTF was referring to is caught in the Spam Filter. I didn’t delete it; I saw it, but couldn’t spring it free. Something to do with the Bush - torture investigations, and a Spanish judge. As you know, I don’t have the necessary level to spring spam messages, even if they are caught in my own posts. I can’t delete any messages that aren’t in my posts.

The only comments I’ve deleted have been ones with overt foul languages. I’ll continue to delete those.

    The boy’s gotta learn..decorum.

JP, I posted a message on your blog, just yesterday.

    Where is that?

    Some advice about comments.

Two hyperlinks in a comment will get through. Three hyperlinks go to moderation. That has been my experience. It happens to me often.

    So JTF, does that help?

  13. comment number 13 by: Serr8d

I found a way to ‘cheat’ that, Number 9. I write out my comment, with, say 4 links (that would never go through) then select and cut that from the comment box. I past a single character, and post.

Then, in to manage comments; edit; paste and save. Voila! Multiple links, no moderation filter.

(Now, JFT will say I baited a hook by showing up with more than 2 links… )

OH, BTW, here’s one of the links he tried to post. The other two were to Russian gay pRon sites that he accidentally took in his buffer..

Oh, and that trick only works on a thread to a post I’ve posted. Not here, for example.
