My Thoughts on Palin

Summed up by Glenn Reynolds:

I don’t know if it has anything to do with her decision, but she’s been subjected — along with her family — to more abuse than any other non-national-officeholder I can think of.

But if the ever-so-thin-skinned Barack Obama got one-tenth the abuse that Sarah Palin has gotten, he’d cry like a little girl. And his defenders would scream raaaacciiiiism at the top of their lungs.

Also Mark Steyn:

But nobody said it would mean a mainstream network comedy host doing statutory rape gags about your 14-year old daughter. You’ve got a special-needs kid and a son in Iraq and a daughter who’s given you your first grandchild in less than ideal circumstances. That would be enough for most of us. But the special-needs kid and the daughter and most everyone else you love are a national joke, and the PC enforcers are entirely cool with it.

Most of those who sneer at Sarah Palin have no desire to live her life. But why not try to - what’s the word? - “empathize”? If you like Wasilla and hunting and snowmachining and moose stew and politics, is the last worth giving up everything else in the hopes that one day David Letterman and Maureen Dowd might decide Trig and Bristol and the rest are sufficiently non-risible to enable you to prosper in their world? And, putting aside the odds, would you really like to be the person you’d have to turn into under that scenario?

National office will dwindle down to the unhealthily singleminded (Clinton, Obama), the timeserving emirs of Incumbistan (Biden, McCain) and dynastic heirs (Bush). Our loss.

Well, Chelsea Clinton got worse, and she didn’t even hold office.

My thoughts on Palin: She quit before the indictments were handed down.

She rushed through that press conference as if she was afraid she had to get out from in front of the cameras before the networks put her in a 2-shot with Steve Schmidt.

Good Lord. Reynolds is an embarrassment and Steyn is a creep. This whole “Palin was hounded from office by mean liberals” notion is idiotic. She obviously craves the spotlight–she engaged in an unseemly public spat with her erstwhile son-in-law and milked the Letterman thing with the help of sick rightwing bloggers who repeatedly referenced raping Willow Palin. If she didn’t want the attention, she would stay in Alaska, instead of repeatedly courting media attention.
Palin, Sandford, . . . you got some real winners to work with in 2012.

Making Palin the Prez might be the quickest path one could take to getting WWIII off the ground.

She would be complete putty in the hands of the imperialist (dare I use the ‘Z’ word, or is that part of ‘freedom of speech’ illegal yet?) warmongers in the CIA and the Pentagon.

Unfortunately Obama isn’t doing much better.

I don’t have a radical agenda. I am just a peace loving moderate.

The ‘taxpayers’ don’t own the banks, the banks own the ‘taxpayers’.

JP, you jobless little shit, who has nothing better to do than wait around for a check, and play with himself, there was much successes with the Tea Parties nationwide.

Of course, you would have to pull your head out of Atrios’ ass in order to notice.

    Fat chance of that happening.

Hey Rusty, at which teabagging event did YOU speak, this weekend?

LegPlz was empty when I went by, yesterday. Gosh, with all that bootstrappy, grassroots publicity here and throughout the TN wingosphere, I guess I’m amazed at the shitty turnout.

Fucking jokes, the lot of you.

Odd: What’s that got to do with Palin, tea parties or anything else in this thread?

Oh, I see — not a goddamn thang. Just another shiny object.
