Voting For Health Bill Requirement of Blackness

November 21st, 2009 . by glendean

Apparently Jesse Jackson is trying to reel in his remarks about Alabama Democrat Artur Davis. If you remember, Jackson in an obvious reference to Davis, said that “You can’t vote against health care and call yourself a black man.”

So why would Jackson say such a thing and who does it help? The answer to the second part of that question is easy. Artur Davis is a serious candidate for governor of Alabama, and an attack from Jesse Jackson is nothing short of a political gift. But I don’t think Jackson said this to help Davis. I think Jackson made these remarks because he is all about himself. This race thing has worked out really well for him over the years. He has made some major “nonprofit” millions by shaking down corporations and race baiting. The election of Barack Obama as President, and to a lesser extent, Aurtur Davis as governor of Alabama, does not help Jackson’s hustle. It might be good for black people. But it isn’t good for Jackson. At some point, black people need to get a clue. Follow the money. Who benefits from racism and the perception of racism? It isn’t white people. It’s Jackson.
