The next Holder outrage

While George Bush’s administration put this nation through trying times it pales in comparison to the Barack Obama administration.

U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Office of Legal Counsel David Barron, of U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s office, has written a five page memorandum that “the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress banned the government from providing money to the group.”

Since 1994, Acorn, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has received about $53 million in federal aid, much of it grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for providing various services related to affordable housing.

But the group has become a prime target for conservative critics, and on Oct. 1, President Obama signed into law a spending bill that included a provision that said no taxpayer money — including money authorized by previous legislation — could be “provided to” the group or its affiliates.

How is that hope and change working out for you now? What does it take to stop ACORN? Or is that even possible with this corrupt administration?

    Trying times?

Bush and Cheney should be tried for treason and murder and genocide and on and on an on.

Obama’s counts don’t measure up to their level yet but he is well on his way.

    ACORN is totally corrupt.

David Barron’s memo is influential but not binding.

Maybe the court in ACORN’s stupid lawsuit, which apparently argues that being prohibited from receiving government contracts amounts to a punishment, will opine that the ‘provided to’ term really has nothing to do with ‘discretionary choices’ after all and instead actually does prohibit the outlay of funds.

When they sue for breach if the government can prove they were using the money for anything illegal then ACORN can take a big fat hike.

Oh, by all means, the “contracts” with ACORN must be honored because the Obama administration is all about honoring contractual obligations when it comes to a corrupt organization that helps them steal votes and taxpayer money.

But when it comes to GM, Chrysler, and the legally-binding contracts of bonuses to AIG execs? Um, not so much.

    *shrug*

I’m not sure I’ll ever get all the right-wing obsession over ACORN. Teeny, tiny fish. It’s rather like getting worked into a lather over illegal immigrants coming across the Canadian border.
